If this had been excavated properly the preservation would be better and they would not have destroyed as much as they did
@richardbeckenbaugh1805 Жыл бұрын
The plane came in at a steep, almost vertical angle and buried itself in the soft muck. The crash site was known, it was considered too difficult to excavate for the pilots remains. The lack of corrosion is due to the lack of oxygen in clay which also helped preserve the pilot and the contents of his wallet. Because of the high angle that the plane came at, the wreckage would only cover a small area and once the center was located, a 10x12 foot hole would allow access to most of the wreckage. It just had to be deep enough. The difficulty lies in the remoteness of the site and the logistics of getting a crew in to excavate the aircraft. You can see that it wasn’t easy.

absolutely insane that his ID card was 100 percent intact.. Im glad though, that means his name was learned and he could be returned to his family and buried with respect. This messages is for whoever is reading it: The Lord Jesus came down from heaven, sent by God the Father, to pay (die) for our sins on the cross, then God the Father raised Him from the dead on the third day for our justification. Now, God commands all (men and women) to repent (turn away from their sinful ways) and put their faith in Jesus for salvation. Don’t die in your sins. Jesus came to save, not to condemn.

It mentioned in the description that they were metal detectorists so, either it was found via that or perhaps there was some debris that was evident at the surface. I do however, have a question that I hope someone can answer. I noted at the beginning they drove pilings in a rectangle to avoid cave-ins while working. But, the area they enclosed is only 10-12 feet square. This is less than half the length of a Mig 3 and about a third of it's length. Once you've constructed your barriers you've pretty much cast the die of limiting the workspace. So, how did they know that the small space they delineated (which is much smaller than the airframe) would contain what they were looking for?

Nice work & the level of preservation is insane as many others have commented. The crazy & fascinating thing is how big our world is as far as land area despite the oceans dominating it & how many sites, people & objects can get lost in our vast lands. Also, while it has been over 75 years since WW2, it’s crazy how some areas can change little especially areas populated by man but many rural or wild areas can change substantially as far as vegetation, earth, topography, etc It’s crazy how deep it was buried after only several decades which may seem like a long time but isn’t. Water, wind, weather, geological forces & shifting, etc can change an area & bury relics relatively quickly.

I’m confused. The plane’s orientation doesn’t seem to correspond to a typical high speed nose dive crash that buried itself that deep into the ground. Maybe it’s the way this film is edited.
