In 1969, in L.A. on Pico Blvd., near Westwood they had an Army Navy Surplus store. They sold .303 Enfield's for $17. Didn't have the $, so bought a Carcano for $13. One of the biggest gun dealers in the USA was Golden State Firearms in Pasadena. Rettings sold full auto Mac's for $200 in the 70's. Kings Gun Shop on Pico near Hauser, got robbed one day. They killed the owner. After that gun stores started to wear guns. Maybe it was the late 60's or early 70's. That was how it was.

My _parents_ weren't old enough to buy guns in 1969, but in 2013, I bought 1.0 BTC (current value near $60k) for about $120. Around the same time I also bought 2 Enfield No 5s from AIM Surplus for $395 each. Should have bought more Bitcoin and less guns and ammo, and I could buy several nice transferables now.

Hands down the most reliable, most effective Battle Rifle ever fielded by a major Combatant Nation. It is damn near impossible to take a properly built no.4 out of the fight.

Basically all i do is military surplus guns, glad to see you come around haha Any questions, feel free to ask. For whatever reason, Enfield rifles take to black powder 303 very well. These are notorious for bag mags. Theyre just easy to bend up over the years. Thats where most feeding issues come from with them.
@BuffRANGE3 ай бұрын
@@theblindsniper9130 I read after shooting the mag lips may need some bending

Back in the early 2000s, I got a unissued Savage No. 4 from Inter-Ordnance still in the original factory wrap in the original factory crate. Set me back a whopping $150 retail. Reminds me of the unissued, post war, Russian M44 that I got back in 1994 still in the factory mummy wrap. You can still find them at auction now and again. Still in the mummy wrap. They have a honey blonde stock with a leather sling unique to them.

I should have bought into some of these surplus guns much earlier on.

If you were loading the mag manually you may have been getting rim lock as the .303 is a rimmed cartridge. Got to stagger the rounds properly to get reliable feeding.

It's a tragedy that we can't get these as readily in the UK as you can in the US now. They are about but getting harder to come by in good order like this. Such a beautiful rifle, lovely sounding action and wonderful all purpose round is the .303 I've always loved these. Thoroughly jealous sir.
@BuffRANGE2 ай бұрын
You're not even allowed to have these in the UK?
@0TheLastLoneWolf2 ай бұрын
@@BuffRANGE yes we are. We can own any bolt action or straight pull rifle. You have to have a firearms certificate which you get by joining a home office approved sports shooting club, do an assessment and training course and become a full member. Then you can apply for an FAC. Semi automatic above .22lr is what we can't have and handguns. Well we can have those but for the most part the average person can't get the certificates to have them because they're so heavily regulated.

@@0TheLastLoneWolf That sounds horrible :(
@0TheLastLoneWolf2 ай бұрын
@@BuffRANGE not really. We just don't have firearms for self defence. We can have them for sporting reasons and we can have suppressors easily too. A lot of places can't even own them at all. It's regulated. Not banned.
@0TheLastLoneWolf2 ай бұрын
@@BuffRANGE I might add to that we are currently undergoing some free speech issues in the UK so it just may get pretty horrible...or even moreso. Whilst I say it's regulated not banned and it's kind of ok. I would fully advocate never giving up your gun rights as we have. We've got to make the best of a bad situation. Ideally, we'd like the rights back.

Any chance you might grab a 6.5 Carcano. Would be neat to see how 6.5 carcano rounds compare to .303 against modern armor.
@BuffRANGE2 ай бұрын
Is ammo for that even produced? Probably something I wouldn't pick up.
@D.Trout2222 ай бұрын
@@BuffRANGE Yeah they still make it but since they flooded the market with carcanos its harder to find. 6.5 carcano has one of the highest sectional densities of any rifle round. With that being said its a 200 dollar rifle that shoots 5$ rounds. The only rifle i own that costs more to shoot is my rolling block in .32short rimfire.

HEAD SPACING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE.
@dbmail5453 ай бұрын
Don't Enfields have replaceable bolt heads for that?
@jmjones78973 ай бұрын
That statement could not possibly be more incorrect. Headspaces on rim. Boltheafs come in a range of numbered sizes. Headspace is adjusted by installing the appropriate bolthead When installing a new barrel you basically run it in until you can't clise bolt on a round of issue ball ammo w/ out excessive force. The appropriate headspace for that particular rifle will be the difference between that and bulging a case with a tiny O-ring and/or those lottle rubber bands from a set of 20th Century Orhodontics. Unit armorers simply kept buckets of different sized bolt heads and used the one that fit best Totally wing it amateur type shit. You literally don't even need prope gauges to set headspace on a no.4 I have no idea what you're text yelling about Simplest martial/ surplus weapon to service that I have ever worked with
