Photos make the WWII fork look identical to the 'Nam era one- I got sold a NOS 'Nam one just the same as an "M1926" fork I got off eBay. How can a genuine '26 be told from the '62?

Pygar2 hi thanks for your comment the way I can tell the ww2 forks and spoons from the Nam ones is if you look at the US on the ww2 ones the letters are italic. And the nam ones are not. but the later ww2 stainless steel fork and spoons don't have italics. I tend to always get the italicised U.S. ones. Hope this has helped you.

The WWII M-1926 fork is 0.6 inch longer than the 1962 issue. The tines are noticeably longer.

The holes were there to enable the utensils to be slid onto the handle of the mess kit pan. The several pieces could then be entirely immersed in the boiling water to sanitised
