The book is by far one of my favourites, just the way Max breaks down how most countries would react and for once it shows the initial outbreak. That said, this movie is an abhorrent disaster. It's very existence is an affront to the author who said, and i quote, "The only thing this movie has in common with the book is the name". World War Z could have been the single greatest piece of Zombie cinema to ever grace our screens but instead we got 'The misadventures of Brad Pitt'. A 10 episode series would have been all they needed to faithfully adapt this. Beginning each with the MC sitting down interviewing someone who was relevant to the part of the history of the Great Zombie War that the episode was portraying, each then delving into a flashback type showing of what happened. I was initially excited when this was announced, then skeptical when the trailers dropped, then disgusted when i first watched it. This great book had been fallen victim to the 'Hollywood' treatment in much the same way that The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy did. After watching it the first time i realised i may have been too harsh. So a month or so later i sat down to watch it again this time thinking of it as not based on the book but a random movie that just happens to have the same title. It is by far Brad Pitt's worst acting i've ever seen. I tried to like it but when he delivers his lines they have no emotion.

There was going to be a sequel but it was cancelled due to budget concerns. Production on this movie was a nightmare as neither Brad Pitt nor director Marc Forster did not like each other at all. Pitt threatened to quit production unless his scenes were filmed several times in order to figure out which take was better. The crew members did not like working with each other at all. Most of the prop weapons used in the film were real and were loaded with real ammo, until a Hungarian Anti Terrorist Unit raided a warehouse containing both real and fake prop guns. The script had to be rewritten several times before filming had begun. The climax of the film was more epic in scope that the final cut, involving soldiers fighting off the infected as well as getting the survivors to a safe zone,but the producers didn't like this version, and gave us a seemingly happy ending. Pitt and Forster would never work with each other again.

It's also not remotely anything to do with the book of the same name. As it's own movie, it's a good one but using the name of an already existing book and having the gall to say "based on the book" in its promo material is shitty.
@zacharyesparza719932 жыл бұрын
Wwz book is amazing & the wwz game is also fun to play
@jcIIXVIIIVII2 жыл бұрын
@@SSD_Penumbra eh, it isn't shitty. It works more as a prequel or "introduction" to the actual story..like you would find in the first pages of a book before the main story. If they ever make a sequel, it could easily be more true to the actual WWZ book, with the "introduction" being taken care of. Both the movie and the book are about zombies and one guy trying to find Patient Zero. Even though the novel is a compilation of reports and interviews, the one main character is the person who collected those reports and interviews, in their search to find Patient Zero. Pitt's character Gerry echoes that through his search to find Patient Zero in the movie. Obviously the movie doesn't follow the documentary point of view of the novel, and they made the zombies and change faster than in the movie and it takes place at the start of the Zeke outbreak and not years after...but it is, at its core, still true to the novel. A man who works for the U.N. travels the world, gathering information and possible answers to the Zeke outbreak and its possible origin by talking to government officials and soldiers.

The whole kicking his family off the boat to a "secure" location is quite normal in wartime, same as triage you help those who you can save and who will not drain your resources, and if he had died and they left his family on board the ship they would be wasting resources a ship can't easily resupply in this kind of situation, on that island they might be able to grow food and their survival risk is better, we can speculate on the Zombies going through water or if people when they die turn, like in Walking dead and such, if something like this happens first thing to go is "humanity" or all humanity is gone in no time you have to prioritize same thing we learned in the Army with Triage you can't save everyone.
