Sports name : Hammer throw .... This sports definition : Throw a ball which is stick with chain .....
@saragrant97493 жыл бұрын
The name is derived from a very old implement of war called a "hammerketch". It was a ball with a long chain that would be thrown by a catapult. Later, they started to use a cannon to launch it. Someone had the idea to add a handle and throw it... hence "hammer throw."

@johnbarron42654 жыл бұрын
The name "hammer throw" is a historical artifact from medieval times. The earliest form of the sport involved strong men hurling chariot wheels by the axle. Then it evolved into throwing heavy stones attached to wooden handles. Then throwing sledgehammers. Then in the 1800s the English standardized the sport by introducing a 16 lb iron ball attached to a steel wire attached to a grab handle, which is still the implement being used today.
