Nothing like watching the pros showoff their endless hours of hard work on handoffs. USA had 2 terrible exchanges and JA had one that still looks inconceivable. Hats off to France for the deserved win.

they just throw a team together; most of time they try to figure out how to get the exchanges right in the heats. so 1 race to figure out the most critical aspect of the race in less than 2 seconds and apply it in the finals

It seems that they do not give enough attention or practice time for the handover. Does not help when you have super quick athletes, but sooo many great teams have surcomed to failure and losses during the handover.

BEFORE THE RACE, LOOKING AT THE JAMAICAN TEAM, I SAID THE ONLY WAY THEY COULD LOOSE THE RACE, is if they mess up the baton change, and that's exactly what happened, they are usually very good at baton changes, so one wonders what went wrong.

I thought we were discussing all the years SAFP was competing, during which they won all but one world championships but failed to win one Olympic title in 4x100 even though they were the clear favorites. 2004 I believe American was clear favorite but they messed up. They would not win anyway since all Jones' medals were stripped that year.

In 2008, it was a poor baton change between VCB and a next female athlete. What happened to the US team in that year by the way🤔? Cant recall but they didn't won🤷🏽♂️.In 2012, the US team was more well rounded and faster than the Jamaican team with Jeter and Felix, a silver medal was won by JA. 2016, SAFP had an toe injury and was still able to give JA a silver. If she wasn't, definetly a Gold for JA

4x2 is the most difficult passing. The crouch start makes it more difficult to see the runners hit their marks and judge their speed. A simpler approach is needed. The French team used the old underhand pass, which may not be as fast as the usual but is smoother and safer. We can see only the last pass of the French because of camera locations.

This is why the 4×200 needs to be contested more in meets like the world champs, Olympics and ncaa champs. When it is contested it looks like this. But we get mixed relay races instead.

In Jamaica’s case, I thought it was simply the inexperience of two runners and the experience of two. Elaine Thompson and Shelly Ann Fraser run too often for that to be the case with those two but the other two were simply ridiculous. They acted as though they had never been on a track let alone trying to receive a baton from a teammate running full speed toward them!
