I finally saw a Japanese runner racing smart for her best result, not racing dumb for just 10 first minutes of fame.

Brutal. Molly Huddle’s closest bid for an international medal in her track career.

Much credit to bronze medalist Infeld. #3 American going into the race, rose to the occasion, and raced through the finish line. What a moment for her.

If you look at this Race keenly from start to finish Vivian Cheruiyot knew her assignment. She never bothered or panicked she knew her biggest threat was Burka and she ran behind her the whole race until the last 200m when she made her move

Don’t think Molly ever celebrated early again after this race.

Its incredible how the commentators failed to mention Emily Infield even once from the starting line and also throughout the entire race until she outdipped Huddle for the bronze...congrats to her for the hard work.

@@Anzomax2Didn't do nothing? She was in that huge pack who were all in contention and all "doing something". She made her move when it really counted, unlike Molly committing the cardinal sin of celebrating early and PAYING for it.

Once in a lifetime medal chance and huddle had done everything right - until the end ! The fact that she celebrated early & her teammate won because of it must have made it totally unbearable as she’d have seen first hand the celebrations in her USA camp - the local and national news reports and had to hear first hand the story that she ought to have been living . Shame . The flag lap celebration looked so good for Infeld she was over the moon but the collapsing of Huddle on the track as it dawned on her what she’d lost is heartbreak !

Molly Huddle should have sat right for the last lap, the e. Africans were feeding off her energy. Maybe if she held back just a tad bit, it could have been good for a silver or bronze.

Much respect for these world class distance runners but why is it that the Japanese always take to the lead way to early and end up getting swallowed up by the competition mid-way point. Do they just expect to lose against the east africans and europeans then why try i mean come on. Very brave effort from Huddle taking the fight.
@edbears57252 жыл бұрын
I think a better question is why don't more competitors take the pace up early, surely they know by now they can't outkick the East Africans. At least the Japanese recognize their weakness and play to their own strength which is a steady if unspectacular pace.
