You can do it! When I was younger I used to write way more than I would draw. I had the same problem as you. Then I got into graphic novels and I realized I needed to spend more time drawing than writing to get to where I wanted to be. It’s taken a long time of working on both in tandem, but I think if you’re dedicated you can do both. It just takes time

The best genre is Medieval fantasy, the best sub genre is dark fantasy. I’ve always loved the Medieval times as a kid who hasn’t? I’m intrigued to see where this story goes I’m definitely keeping an eye on this, your art style is already appealing and you’ve started the lore off in an interesting way. Love the concept of days and nights lasting for months so much plot events and story beats can come from that. And you can make so so many different scenarios. Keep up the amazing work.

I think it’s one of the best genres! I really want to focus on the psychological horror aspect since I don’t see it too much. It’s definitely gotten more popular to incorporate horror with fantasy so maybe I can step it up! Either way thanks for following along and checking it out 🙇♂️

Thank you I really appreciate it! I'm hoping for the whole comic to be generally unsettling, but I do want to weave other themes in. I think it being horror at the forefront, and then incorporating romance, fantasy, action, and comedy will be a great way to really flesh out the mood so it's not a one trick pony. Hopefully I'll be doing preorders in September, but I'll definitely be posting updates about it on the channel at some point! Definitely another lore video soon at least.

@pitchcanker7 ай бұрын
Dude thank you! So the way I'm going about it is that these deities aren't actually the true sun and moon. They're interloper Gods feeding off of the planet and blocking out the actual planets. They're akin to parasites that have latched on to the planet. It's like a form of aggressive mimicry. Ideally I'd like them both to be banished by the end of the story, revealing the true sun and moon. I do like the idea of other cursed celestial bodies though! I'm still working on the 3rd book so I'm open to ideas.

Don't know if I've ever seen your channel before but the artwork is an instant like, very simplistic and bold colors really give it a very unique vibe that I think matches perfectly with and grim dark horror world you feel like creating. Also interesting worldbuilding ya got going on with this project, wonder how long it took to flesh your ideas out? I've dabbled in both writing and drawing but have a hard time staying committed to projects so I'm a bit... Ok, very far behind, especially on my digital art skills but comics seem like a lot of fun. A lotta work as well, but probably worth it. I don't have Instagram though, any alternative options to see more of this project? Ya got me at horror medieval fantasy

Thank you, I really think my style being unique will help get people interested! So as far as timeline goes, this has taken about 2 years to plan out. It's been on and off as far as putting the real work in, but it's been in the front or back of my mind pretty consistently. I would say the story is 80% fleshed out at this point, but a lot changes as I write. I still think there's a lot of stuff I've made that I won't include, but also ideas I could flesh out more. Take it from me, you are not far behind. Some of the greatest artists matured late, or even found their success down the line. Start now with the time you have left. We're never guaranteed tomorrow, and you can do so much in such a small amount of time if you treat your time with respect. Time slows down when you pay attention to what you're doing, you've got this! Also the comic can be read on my website (It's a few pages behind currently). I might also post the comic on Cara, it's a pretty solid art app right now that I'm investing some time into. If you like art it's amazing for browsing really talented creators without BS.
@discordiacreates66697 ай бұрын
@@pitchcanker yeah your art style is very recognizable and I can't speak for others, but I will certainly give a visual story a try just for the artstyle alone if I like it, which I do. Two years is pretty good to me, I've taken three just to flesh one character out but it's true that I'll never reach the finish line if I never start in the first place, thank you for the encouragement, you seem like a good person. Also noted, I'll definitely have to find the time to go binge what if the comic is already out, thanks for having multiple options to find it on, I'm sure that'll also help your reach and I hope it's a successful endeavor, writing and drawing are hard jobs, combining them takes some true skill so you deserve the recognition for your work

I would say try and capture original subject matter! Don’t fall into tropes, and don’t be afraid to be creative. I think you can make anything brutal. I originally wanted to make my main body of work about funguses and herbs, but scary. The red black and white thing came later. I really believe it’s just a matter of widening your perspective on what can be scary!

Idk how much trouble it would be at the stage of development you're at to edit, but you might want to pivot away from having goblins - they're increasingly becoming reassociated with their origins in antisemitic myths and propaganda (and more awareness is being raised of the frequent antisemitic way they're portrayed im pop culture) and it might age poorly depending on what the iron eaters look like. Also, is this gonna be a physical book? It would be so cool to have a physical copy, it looks so awesome so far and I'm pumped
@pitchcanker7 ай бұрын
Hi there, I am keeping things like this in mind! I am tackling some concepts like imperialism with this book, and I hope it will give a nuanced but raw commentary on systems of oppression, from the eyes of the oppressor. I think once the rest of the graphic novel releases it will be made clear that a lot of language revolving around these characters is how people in Nitheful perceive them, not how the rest of the continent view them. Either way thanks for checking it out! I hope at some point to make some physical copies, if enough people get excited about it :)
@JonathanGhost426 ай бұрын
Goblins in and off themselves will never be problematic, no matter what some people like to say. It is always how such mythical beings are used and depicted in a story (and also with what kind of subtext), that should matter in the question if something really is problematic... People should not let some extremists get the control over folkloric figures, because then this kind of people who use symbols and mythical beings in the bad way are the winners. There is also a very big and complex history behind Goblins and yes, there are also in some parts antisemitic elements, but there is much more behind Goblins and this part is by far neither the origin nor the core of the myths araound goblins.
