StormClan is so exciting to me, I think it's because we rarely get a sense of Clan history outside of the origin story, the events of the actual books, and of course Skyclan getting kicked out. For all we know, the cats in the forest lived in relative status, only engaging in petty border squabbles for generations until Tigerstar showed up. Suddenly we're given the chance to look at those generations not as a static, uneventful past, but as history. Cataclysmic events, heroes and villains, now lost to memory.

I stopped reading WC after the great war. Firestar was the main reason I read the series. I grew up with him, i stayed until he died, and then I moved on with my life. Then I found you, and tangentially kept up with the series. This book makes me want to pick it back up, just to see where they go with this. I'll wait until the next one for now, but im excited for this new era in WC!

Me too! I read Dawn of the Clans when it came out because I found the concept interesting, but I felt like the main story of Warriors was done and over at the end of The Last Battle. I'm with you though, this seems interesting enough to pay attention to at least :)

Ivypool's Heart has been SUCH a refreshing book to get. I was a bit worried originally, and the book has a lot of filler. But I, for one, don't actually mind the filler this time, nor do I mind that it's a traveling book. There's a lot of fun scenes, and fun interactions with the characters, although I feel like Whistlepaw wasn't very.. utilized, really. She was there. She was most definitely there!!! But I enjoy the fact that they're willing to add to the lore THIS much. I figured that's what they were going to do, but adding an entirely new clan? A different (but still similar) species with a whole CLAN? And the expanded cat heaven and cat hell lore? EATING THIS UPPPPP!!!!! I loved every new character introduced, and I loved every new bit of lore. Such a new and unique book that's genuinely got me excited about warrior cats again. My favorite part though are the barn cats with the dogs. Love them. Need a series entirely focused on them. Actually the seagulls too? Need them in the main series being awful.

Funny. In my language its largely the same as the english ones [the clan names, which are, directly translated, not with google translate but as if i was using it: ThunderClan, FloodClan, ShadowClan and WindClan and StarClan. I only have one book in my language though, and it's sunrise, so I dont know SkyClan's name] but funnily enough Cinderheart is basically called Ashheart and, while I am not sure exactly what Ashfur's name means, I am pretty sure his name is Cinderfur... Lol Oh, and funnily enough, each one of the Three all have different or slightly different names than in the english versions. As mentioned before, Jayfeather is Bluefeather, but besides that, Hollyleaf is Blackleaf and Lionblaze is Lionflame. Also Ferncloud is Frecklecloud and Daisy is Cotton. Also funny thing elders are just called "The older" and it feels like they didn't even hire a native speaker to write it, because GOODBYE is misspelled. I mean, I guess it might be because in the entirety of the Warriors series they say "Good bye" instead of "Goodbye" but... they didn't have to make it true in my language, as well.

I will say, if they become bipedal and wear clothes, it would definitely change things. The whole point is that they're feral cats. They avoid humans, there are barn cats, there are cats that get captured and taken to the vet, there are cats that get adopted into human homes, cats that get thrown in shelters, stuck in crazy cat lady homes, they avoid campsites, human children are always trying to get them and pick them up, they eat chickens and rabbits from human farms. I just think it would be incredibly odd and offputting if they were doing all that as civilized little animal people who, if they wear clothes, are implied to be capable of artisnal work. If they can harvest material and make thread to weave clothing, make armor, weapons, etc. then whats stopping them from farming their own prey, any form of agriculture really, and why would the humans treat them like feral cats at that point? It would switch up the dynamic of the story IMMENSELY. It would lose so much if the survival aspect, which is basically the main thing in the series. I can understand older people possibly being into that idea because they're probably getting bored of the way Warriors is currently, but that outcome would not actually be Warriors. If you're tired of the books, the story, the main driving aspects of the series, just move on to a different series. Changes are fine, but not ones that alter such a large chunk of established world-building.

Honestly I really am hoping the series is getting on its feet in terms of lore again. In most of my other fandoms I enjoy making lore headcanons but despite being in the fandom for over a decade and occasionally thinking about it I can never bring myself to EXPECT more lore below what we already have. I’m hoping those creative ideas come washing in one of these days

I love the addition of Stormclan more than I do the idea of Tigerclan, Lionclan, and Leopardclan being recanonized honestly, I enjoy it! I wonder if such a focus on Icewing (kinda), and her being there learning the customs of Stormclan makes me wonder if she will become Riverclan leader and maybe please hopefully bringing these customs to Starclan, that’s wishful thinking though

Interesting that an afterlife river is canon now and Bee (I think that's his name- from the cats that Nightheart and Frostpaw stay with) has that dream about walking along a river. Could be a coincidence but I'm still a fan of the Beestar or Bee medicine cat theory. Or maybe they'll form their own clan or tie in with Stormclan? Idk but it's a pretty big coincidence (or red herring) if it's unrelated.

You know, I couldn't put my finger on why the StormClan thing felt so wild to me but it's definitely that we haven't gotten unknown-past warriors universe development in forever! it was starting to feel like the dawn of the clans timeline must be juuuust before the like, skyclan exile era and we knew pretty much everything there was to know about the past of the clans. Adding some ClanGen-Tumblr-Level lore to the past of the clans in a random super edition feels so cool!! And as another person said, I did really enjoy the emotional core of this book too. 'how do you grieve without 100% sureity of ever seeing that person again' is a... lot more responsible of a thing to be teaching any kiddos reading the books about than I ever really expected warriors to be touching on. And it was honestly really refreshing... and the way they managed to write Ivy and Dove in a way that, at least my i-havent-read-oots-in-8-years brain felt was accurate enough made me less nervous about the Tawnypelt and Leafstar POVs coming up

Honestly, as someone who read these book as a little 12yr old some decade ago and still reads them while I can legally drink, Warriors is such a big thing that kind of *can’t* be replicated into a show or movie. It sort of needs to be taken in a new direction, quite frankly because rabid fans would have an issue with a 1:1 story. Anthropomorphic show would just be awesome. Kind of silly. Like watching Beaststars except it’s feral cats that kill each other because a ghost tells them to. Very stoked for this new caring team member and where they take us lol

Starclan cats guiding cats as they grow up is a really cool idea. And it would allow the clans to have a closer relationship with Starclan. The clans don't really feel like they're close to Starclan anymore, especially since only medicine cats and leaders go to the moonpool.

i always thought that Starclan told Firestar about Skyclan, thought considering the whole higher power thing its not inconceivable that they forgot. i looked at the wikipedia page for the Scottish Wildcat (Felis silvestris silvestris) and it matches how they're described almost exactly, its also the only wildcat in Britten. also something i noticed after reading Ivypool's heart is that we've never gotten a really vivid description of Starclan which makes me kinda sad as an artist :(, i love how the other afterlives are depicted though. one thing that disturbs me is that by putting the dark forest next to Starclan its almost like they're implying that the other cats don't have hell 'cause during the afterlife tour none of the other afterlives have hells next to them, though we probably just couldn't see them.

I really like the angle of ancient generations of cats having a ghost mentor as it also seems like an awesome "common ancestor" between The Sisters' practices and the clans' practices of how they raise their kits. As someone who has been having to worldbuild for a WC tabletop campaign since the series lacks so much of it, I immediately ran out and bought the book when I heard how much worldbuilding was in it. It's really given me a lot of ideas of custom things to put in the game (wildcats are who deliver the prophecies to StarClan and such, and there is a pantheon of them) and I'm excited to see where the next super edition goes since it's supposedly connected to Ivypool's Heart in a major way. As an aside, I also was worried about the Ivypool versus Dovewing fighting and ended up rolling my eyes at how Twitter misconstrued the small spat they did have. Dovewing was clearly needling Ivypool for a big blow up reaction because she knew Ivypool *needed* to have one. It was pretty good characterization imo.

I read it and It was soo good and once Star comes out Im reading it and I loved Beach and Slate They were so cute my heart melted. I really liked the Wildcats they were so cool and Stormclan was intresting. I really liked the afterlife river that was super intresting it kinda reminds me of the River Of Souls and The Cave Of Judgment from my fan Warriors universe The Cursed Forest. Im thinking about making it into an rp and I also made fan afterlives called Magicclan: Wise and Fair and Darkvoidclan: Cannibalistic and Vengeful. here's how the Cave Of Judgment works in my Warriors universe when the spirt cat finishes its journey from the River Of Souls the cat is jugded by two cats one from Darkvoidclan and the other from Magiclan. The cats use special crystals to look through the cat's life if they done good they are guided to Magicclan if they have done bad things then the cat is dragged into the shadows of Darkvoidclan. Oh and the fan clans in my Warriors universe are named Vampireclan: Mystical and Skillful, Bleedinclan: Ruthless and Loyal, Ghostclan: Shy and Quick, Witchclan: Charming and Sneaky, and Deathclan: Deadly and Sweet. hope yall have an awesome weekend

Spoilers I could easily suspend my disbelief about a pawful of cats leaving to make their own Clan and everyone deciding to forget about that but TWO WHOLE CLANS COMBINING AND THEN LEAVING?! Nah, no way, not on StarClan themselves. I liked the wildcats tho, that was neat, and how they handled Ivypool's grief and moving on.
