Take a look behind the curtains of one of the world's greatest breeding operations, Coolmore Stud.
WHR visited during the #IrishStallionTrail and saw stallions including Wootton Bassett, Little Big Bear and Paddington.
The Irish Stallion Trail is an open weekend for racing fans and potential breeders to visit Stud farms around Ireland.
With thanks to Irish Thoroughbred Marketing 🍀

Was lucky enough to experience a visit here this year, what a place, their stallions rightly live like kings. Seeing horses like Paddington, St Marks Basilica, Camelot et all up close and personal was amazing. Thanks to Coolmore for allowing us mere mortals to experience a taste of the highest echelon of racing operates.

Ireland has some excellent stallions on their hands!! Just like in America and Around The World!!

they have nicer stallions in the Coolmore America and austrailian one... its still Irish coolmore but in different countries but those stallions have a purpose for that country they reside in... these stallions here in Ireland are international breeders they wont benefit our racing especially because we dont race much flat over here at least not 5f's. In fact this will leave us behind in 20 years... all other countries are excelling at breeding and using our stock meanwhile we keep out-sourcing. It will end bad... 20 years

@@janetmarshall7171 100% america has some lovely horses and sire lines.. the thing america has going for it in terms of horse racing is they have 10,000s of horse farms, millions of horses, 1000s of racetracks etc etc its so vast but what annoys me is they wont step into hurdles and chasing its such a good sport and america could be a huge player in this market with england bowing out in recent years Only the Irish and french really still have decent chasing stock. This type of racing in america would be incredible and would create a new billion dollar market for them. AND they already have a great base stock in the northern dancer nearctic lines.

@@janetmarshall7171 thank you!¬ Unfortunally i wasnt born into to a well off family, although here in Ireland anybody can own horses people have them in their gardens and in fields all around where they live but 1, I live in Dublin not much space left here and 2. in order to be involved in horse racing you have to be rich it costs alot of money to own but more importantly maintain a racehorse. Plus i don't care about the money part most people buy horses to flip money... i love horses like a friend, i like the breeding aspect of it i have a background in breeding plants and did some greyhounds once, maybe i could study breeding and get a job as a breeder ( one is allowed to dream) Where are you from Janet? do u like horses?

I believe high covering fees is ruining the sport.

150k for no nay never cover when others in the same shed for 10k have proven better offspring. ( with better lineage.)

The first lie was in the first sentence! Thoroughbreds do not come from nowhere, they are the only breed of any animal that is entirely created by selective breeding. Coolmore are as responsible for the extinction of the Godolphin sire line as the friggin' rag heads. There are only two Byerley Turk sires left on the planet! What are the fookin' Irish or the Arabs doing about that? Where are you gonna get another Lalun or Park Appeal or Eight Carat from?
