People’s around the world are horrified at the slaughter pipeline in the U.S. and the lack of welfare protection here. It’s shocking to find that the UK is facing the same issue and having an equally difficult time passing equally popular legislation! Pass the Kept Animals Act! Pass the SAFE Act! Something both sides of the pond can get together around!

As a fellow American, we have a long way to go with our banning horse export to Mexico and, yes...Canada! It would be lovely to know this would "kill" the slaughter trade in Canada with it, yet, likely not. I hope this passes and can at least set a precedent for our mission to ban slaughter export from the USA. Thanks for the awareness and fight!

What about breeding? 25,000 + thoroughbreds are bred every 12 months. The "best" are plucked off the top and the rest are discarded or raced to literal death in smaller stake races. Not only thoroughbreds. That's the root of the problem. The rest of us are left the responsibility of adopting them and keeping them from slaughter.

Well said. This needs the racing community to take responsibility for the breeding of thoroughbreds, I don’t hold my breath because there are so many countries breeding so many all for the greed of money. Maybe a rule is made that every registered thoroughbred is tracked through its microchip and ensured a reasonable life whether racing or not.

What about the way racehorses are allowed to be drugged in the US but nowhere else? What about all the third world donkeys who are worked to death and rarely get their feet properly trimmed? What about horse hoarders who no longer provide proper care for their too-large herds? What about the worldwide disappearance of safe, well-maintained bridle paths? What about the poor "big lick" Tennessee Walkers who are abused for show? What about the Arabians who are bred for halter classes yet lack the conformation to do anything else? What about the way Arabian halter classes involve terrifying the horses? What about dressage riders abusing their horses with rollkur? There are many aspects of horse welfare that need attention and donations of time, money, and supplies. This particular video has to do with a bill that's been sitting in parliament for almost two years, a bill which would help end horses being smuggled for slaughter. Every group working to improve the lot of equines everywhere is worthy. There's no good reason to indulge in whataboutery, nor to belittle any of them nor the issues upon which they focus.

Wonderful to see these magnificent Horses who represent every Horse that is treated in so many cruel ways, subjected to the distress of live export, left to starve, used for pony rides until they are worn out then discarded with no regard. Each one is valuable & also must be protected from unscrupulous dealers at horse fairs where they are traded & sold on for slaughter. It is so distressing to know so much cruelty continues when lawmakers can change laws & regulations for the betterment of every Animal. World Horse Welfare & so many other Welfare Organizations deserve Governmental financial support for their continued hard work on behalf of the Equines that have been overlooked & suffer at the hands of traders, dealers & illegal shipment. I'm in Canada and unfortunately it's one of the worst offenders when it comes to horses being sold for slaughter. The Canadian government really isn't interested in any sort of animal welfare, including horses. The Animal welfare laws in Canada are literally in some cases Dickensian and haven't changed for over 100 years. It's disgusting.

I did this for world horse welfare some years ago with Anthony head . I am an actress and was in a very popular series with my mate . We went from St. John’s wood barracks in Winston Churchill s mothers coach to Downing Street to hand in a petition to stop the live transport of horses yet here we still are asking the muppets to stop this monstrous trade. What is the problem? Humans have used these amazing animals in their disgusting wars and if you have ever heard a horse scream you will never forget it . Stop the filthy trade now!

I find it abhorrent that it is thought ok and accepted that live animal export is a humane way to treat any animal, they are capable of feeling fear, pain and distress and are treated with total disregard of their welfare needs. As a horse owner it breaks my heart to see them at slaughter markets, these are animals that have given their all for humans and to be treated in this way is sickening. A total ban is needed on all live animal exports and imports. I hope that our Government will listen and act, but I won't be holding my breath 😢

Thank you so much 🙏 Here in America I have been against horse slaughter since the 1970s as a child after reading Anna Sewell's "Black beauty". Unfortunately the horrors of the slaughter pipeline are increasingly getting worse. with the Belgian horses going to Asia for meat thoroughbreds, historical mustangs, and any equine are being heavily affected by this tragic and inhumane process. I t just doesn't stop. There are even Federal animal cruelty laws not enough law enforcement officers that are trained and how to detect and how to enforce the laws. Consider that what is included in the bill is law enforcement officers get trained in identifying horses going to slaughter and how to create the case and how to press the charges and have an after-care setup for the rescues. these poor horses are starved abused neglected and put on some of the most horrific journeys before they are tortured and slaughtered. These beings are very incredible souls they are not machines to be used and thrown away and disrespected. Horses are our friends our soldiers and our officers they are our companions and they do have emotions and they do matter.

In 2019 it was reported that the Queen’s own older-than-average horses in the Household Calvary were sold to slaughter. My hope is that this is an incorrect report. Wish you were helping Canada and USA too for same concern. Canada Trudeau told Agriculture Minister to stop December 2021. Now she is concerned for economy and must plan. We have both export from few farms to Japan but we are concerned for kill buyers pipeline for slaughter They buy cheap $$ and cross back dumping on the way to Mexico. This a piece of legislation & a campaign that is desperately needed in the US. Dogs & cats have much more protection against abuse & cruelty than horses do. Horses are considered to be livestock in the US & laws are on a county to county basis, state by state. In my area there are 5 horses living in a mud pit lot without proper shelter from storms or heat from the sun, without any protection from the weather through the use of blankets (rugs), without proper regular grooming, without access to a pasture--basically without any kind of standard equine care. The owner of the horses is a backyard breeder who breeds mares & sells horses.I have no idea who is buying them but there is a good possibility that they are going to killer pens or being exported to other countries where horsemen is commony consumed by people. The US needs to pass laws to protect horses & to insure that they are entitled to a good quality of life. I am not naive enought to believe that laws will guarantee this. After all even with the exising laws for the treatment of dogs & cats, thousands are abandoned or otherwise subjected to cruelty of all sorts every year. But the laws help.

@@juliaforsyth8332 yes I can say put them down or put to sleep. As a responsible horse owner in the UK, I have had to say goodbye to one of our ponies and two of our horses due to various illnesses. Sadly it is putting them to sleep, responsibly in their own field with the family with them. What we didn’t do was send them off to slaughter to be turned into meat 😢
