@@springerfinger1477 Ein Parlamentarier in Oestreich hat diesen Vorschlag vorgetragen die Schweizer den gemeisamen Luftraum zu patrouillieren zu lassen, warum nicht eine Joint-Neutral Austro-Swiss Airforce = Rotes Rechteck mit weissem Strich der im Kreuz endet, als signet und die Piloten aus Payerne müssten nicht schon am Piz de l'Hom wieder zurückehren und die Oestreicher könnten nach dem Vorarlberg weiterfliegen.

Basel has a ports. It's only a riverports, but it's actually important for us. 10% of all goods we import / export go through that port. The Troops numbers are correct. But we could easily built back up to about 700k within 5 years.

I just think those kind of stats is more about oil and rare raw material And for example oil is more by pipe-line like the marseille-geneva airport one Meaning we don’t have to defend tanker and it’s easy to cut a pipeline (in war meaning point) For troops idk of course now we have 100k active for the purpose of army to be working nowadays But total combat ready troops in a case of real territorial war or country defense is for me all man from 25yo to 55yo - man without military formation Is a total of at least 1’000’000 (it’s more 1’200’000) Because those troops have formation a personnal weapon a corps and some duty to act in first time responding But perhaps some other criteria make it a lot less For me it’s the difference between actual active troops and total troops army as it’s presented in this chart In USA for example you can add national guards and reservist as they need to serve for defend country on case As for overseas operation they can’t count as active troops

Come on. Both Switzerland and Austria are pacifist countries with little ambitions to invest money into the army. The equipment is correspondingly outdated and the soldiers on duty are almost exclusively amateurs, a large proportion of whom otherwise sit in the office and operate computers. The effectiveness of the Swiss army is a myth that dates back to World War II, although even then the army was not the reason why Switzerland was spared by Hitler. Today, Switzerland doesn't even invest 1% of its budget in the army and it takes Switzerland about 20 years to get a more modern fighter jet.

@Joel-5556 Tank grenadeers are considered to be an elite troop. They have the toughest physical tests to pass and they get the toughest training but they are only a small fraction of the army. We don't even use the tanks we have so that our Gov. had the brilliant idea to sell 25 Leopard 2 tanks back to Germany so they can hand them over to Ukraine. It's a shame..
