There's so many building made by Dutch and Portugese in Fort Kochi area to store thier goods... Even some jews lived there at the time of WWII, their synagogue is still there... The government acquired these lands after British rule ended and given to local people. So maybe the cafe is new but the building are very old.

Fort Kochi has some quaint Cafe’s spread out across the old heritage town, from rustic old streets to colonial styled garden cafés , it has it all. This particular LA cafe, looks nice , peaceful ambiance & service looks legit. Ideally located just across the fort Kochi boat jetty, seems like an ideal place for some refreshments and cool one down before or after exploring fort Kochi town, and hop on a Boat just across. Also would suggest to visit Pepper House cafe, just a 10 min walk from fragrant nature. Gr8 content Mac. It has started to grow on me to appreciate the work and effort that you take in making good content & also for your generosity.

Also, kerala has an amazing geography, where you travel from beach very relatively short distance to the east, you reaches hilly areas. Unfortunately, you chose the off season time to visit here. K, chicken roast, lamb roast, pal appam(curved) and kalaopam and chicken curry, pretty much any chicken curry and curry and rice(nadan, chettinad, Kerala, Alleppey, green chicken curry), erachi roast(ask around the minority community, meat dish has coconut wafers) and parotta, chicken 65, chicken lollipop, chicken fry, Kerala fish curry, polichathu(cooked in a banana leaf wrapped in a spicy fish sauce) Kerala fish fry, pork curry (many types), goat curry, lamb curry, lamb fry, okra fry, Sri Lankan style eggplant curry, Sadhya, paper dosa and sambar , puri and something that goes with it, payasam (raisins, cashews, milk, cardmom, vermicili), halwa (cashew in ghee and gelatinous substance it's a chewy sweet black or orange in color), lots of veg dishes that I can't remember. Anyways, try it out, you won't regret.

One thing is for sure, the disparity between rich and poor is there in Kerala, too though it may not be apparent in these travel videos. However, I'm happy to say it's less likely to get mugged in Kerala than further north. Probably a good idea to explore south before north for new inexperienced travelers. You are more likely to run into people who know at least a very basic level of English, even in less developed areas. As someone from the upper-middle class who gets mistaken for a foreigner, I would not dare venture out alone in these less developed areas for fear of my safety. It doesn't help my Malayalam and Hindi is very weak as my family spoke English. But I guess being a man gives you an additional layer of safety even if you are walking about by yourself. I would have totally panicked if three men surrounded me like that in a remote area. The guy at the restaurant is definitely a good representation of an average educated Keralite... though he reminded me of Jack Sparrow for some reason. ☺
