Wow. Heard all these cats plenty but never the bassist. Larry Evans? He sounds like a monster. Did he play around New York much. Who with?I cut my teeth on Art Blakey and Horace Silver and saw many versions of groups they led but never this bassistN and as I say he sounds like a monster. One of my favorite editions of The Jazz Messengers! This band were very explosive, reminiscent of the 1962-1964 band of Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Curtis Fuller, Cedar Walton and Reggie Workman!

at this level, these musicians are not playing what is real, that is, what you hear. it is beyond that. they are playing their transcendence, their soul, their atman. The word boring has no meaning here. It is you who do not feel anything. It is a long work. jazz is not a McDonald's. Think about it and meditate on it...sorry for the violence of my words.
