Monk didn't just write jazz standards; he was THE standard.

Their ability of dynamic control, very contrasting dynamic yet still super groovy and smooth, is terrific!

This is the tour Al McKibbon and Art Blakey said Thelonious Monk only spoke a few words to them the whole time. Later he wrote the reason why he didn't hardly speak was that he was surprised to see how ugly they were. Wow.

Terrific. Monk is lovely to hear; personal distress shows in his face. I understand there’s a recording of this combo recorded two weeks later in London.

Esta mistura de jazz com bossa nova resulta muito bem, dá um carácter especial ao jazz, dá-lhe um toque tropical. Gosto muito. Obrigado por estes momentos bem passados. Protejam-se do Covid-19. Boa sorte.

Monk is playing great, but looks unwell. It's troubling. I know this was near the end, not of his life, but of his playing in public.
