The project was originally meant to be a 2D Sonic game for the Saturn

​@@tokenblack7983It definitely had a chance. It was Sega of Japan's decision to rush out the system to compete with the PS1 and make the 32X, which screwed over fans and retailers. All of the 32X games would've been perfectly fine on the Saturn, because the 32X is nothing but a band-aid.

It wouldn't have been a good idea. The Saturn could handle a game like this, but because of the shift to 3D at the time, people would've not even bothered with buying it

I don’t think the game is that highly regarded for Sega to bother the whole tether thing hurts the gameplay quite a bit but you do get used to it

Quick note: Charmy is 16 in this game, and since knuckles chaotix was released in 1995, Classic Charmy is FOURTY FIVE.

This and Sonic CD are the two classic era Sonic games I never got to play. Seeing this footage now, decades later, I can say I would've been massively disappointed had I gotten a 32X and this game back in the 90s. This seems like an experimental idea they just slapped together into a rushed game to sell more 32X'es on launch. It's more of a concept than a full game. Nice music, though.

Probably because it’s played through emulation and the emulator can’t replicate the 32X sound chip

I was hoping this game would eventually be available for something like Sonic Origins. I don’t know why they bother to acknowledge the game in any capacity without including the game. People like to make the game out to be worse then it is because of the failure of the 32X. But imagine if they could just remaster the game, and tweak out all the issues anyone had with the game to more resemble the 2D classics. I’m sure that would change fans perceptions of this game if they made it more accessible with improvements. I guess if there was enough clambering, we would of gotten something. I really wanna know if it’s a deliberate choice not to rerelease it or reputation?
