Not an attempt at being a speed run but nothing much seems to have changed between the versions. -

Two fun Punch-Out facts: 1. Mr. Sandman was the final opponent in the arcade version. Glass Joe, Bald Bull, and Piston Honda (then called Piston Hurricane) also made their debuts in this version. Soda Popinski, the Great Tiger, and Super Macho Man were introduced in the arcade sequel "Super Punch-Out" (not to be confused with the SNES Super Punch-Out), with SMM as the final opponent. Soda was known as Vodka Drunkenski, but the name changed in the NES version...

This game kept so thrilled and entertained for hours as a kid in the early 1990's- Mr Sandman was hard because u have to punch him once in face then jab his belly again and again then theres Super Macho man was the hardest next to Mr Dream, himself.

Very interesting changes they made. You'll also see in my next longplay 'Faxanadu', Nintendo removed a lot of religious references from the game when it was ported over from the Famicon.

Actually Iron Mike was replaced because a contract with Nintendo was about to expire and Tyson chose not to renew it. The re-release occurred 2-3 years before Tyson's rape conviction.

ESPN should do a 30 for 30 on the boxers in Punch Out. I'm really worried that Glass Joe spends large parts of his days shadowboxing imaginary opponents and drooling on himself. Even worse, he probably had Don King as a manager so he's broke as well.

yep yep. this is the shizzy. the games weren't overly complicated back then and just hard enough for us kids. we see them beaten in half hour, 20 minutes. some games i remember playing for hours a time just to get everything down and probably didn't beat some.

That game is called 'Power Punch 2' and it is the sequel to Punch Out. It sucked so incredibly bad though that no one talks about it and I dare not try to LP it.

It was originally called “Mike Tyson’s Intergalactic Power Punch” and was going to be a similar adventure where you play as Mike Tyson trying to beat the universes best players, however, after Mike Tyson’s rape charges, the project was discontinued and sent to another company, and that’s why we have the horrible “Power Punch 2”.

Mike Tyson isn't the final boss in this game. This version came out after Tyson's title loss to Buster Douglas, so they replaced him with Mr. Dream in this one.
