Definitely one of the all-time great Blizzard games. Thank you so much for showing the entire walkthrough ! That had to have been quite an effort. I got stuck right near the end on a puzzle room and you solved it for me. You can shoot the shield reactor with the last gun you are given, you don't need a bomb like before. Never occurred to me. :7

Epilogue continued: The man that gave him the first shotgun upgrade received his own fiefdom and went on to father 8 children. Sarlac's left demon dog decided return to college following Sarlac's death, he studied business and accounting and now owns several shopping centers in the midwest. Sarlac's right demon dog pursued a career in hollywood, but died tragically of a drug overdose in 1998. The seer One Hand would go on to sell a successful line of gardening products while the Spirit of Thoros would be moved to new Stonefist and have a lucrative career modeling for men's fitness magazines. Galadriel the wizard continued to have a girl's name.

No way, the PC sound is way better
@Risingson210 ай бұрын
@@MusicOfDestruction there was no "PC Sound" at the time. You had several different options, from synth fm to soundfont based cards (general midi) to the last uses of mt32. And some games even used modtracks like amiga or snes, but with different quality of sampling. Even the OPL2/OPL3 synths did not have a standard sound. THIS example in particular, this game, sounds good because probably it uses general midi with a soundfont, as now it is very easy to do in windows, but I cannot recall how this sounded in an awe32 at the time, for example. Sorry for being super pedantic. In any case yeah, in principle this is better than the tracker music in snes but maybe because of the soundfont it sounds very messy at times, not fading the instruments.

The sound is screwy in this version with the shotgun sounding very flimsy, and the music is all wrong but it's cool to see a play through of this old classic. I still have it this cartridge stored in a box somewhere. I should dust it off sometime. The gun fighting mechanic was so unique. It really made for intense combat. I think Out of This World and Prince of Persia probably beat it on the variety of the level designs, but they couldn't touch the combat system in this game. It's shame that this style of combat was never revisited again by any other game to my knowledge.

While I'm not sure the combat system or the platforming would hold up well today, I was pleasantly surprised that some of the puzzles were far more intricate than I remember them being. I wonder why they never did more with the IP. I guess it was because other Blizzard projects (I'm mainly thinking of Warcraft here) ended up taking more of their resources and attention?

wow, never considered someone might just beat the final boss without rolling. I thought everyone kind of figures out the easiest way to deal with him is to use the rolling around trick since you can keep your gun out and dodge the solar fireball blasts at the same time, but sprinting also works too! Not a tough final boss once you know the tricks, but I wish there was more. I always thought this game was way longer than it actually was on the Snes as a kid (maybe compared to Out of This World and Flashback it felt longer) but its only about a 2 hour long game. Maybe I just like games in the 2-4 hour length.

The intro music on PC is WAY Better than the SNES and 32X version; at 1:34 you can just feel the sheer epicness of the situation, and it's truly masterfully done. The rest of the Soundtrack is not so good but you can't have it all. But that's just my opinion.

what do you think of the fact the snes was censored in comparison to the pc? The game is very heavy metal so I HATE they censored out the blood, as well al the gameover screen and bloodsplatter in the blizzard logo. The skull based item menu for the pc also was more in the style of the game (heavy metal). To bad they only added the snes and 32x version for the Blizzard Arcade Collection. Why do you think they didnt added the pc dos version as well?
