I played this as a kid a million times. I was stuck at my nieces birthday party at a skating rink, I noticed they had a tmnt arcade machine. I payed for my nephews to play this with me the whole way through. It was freaking awesome they loved it! This game will always be a classic.

Whenever my father took me to the mall to get a haircut he always let me go to the arcade and give me fifty cents to play this game afterwards. I would play as Donatello and he would be Michelangelo. If I died first he always would step aside and let me play his character. For years circa 1992 that’s just what we did. All of the memories of him doing this for me mean more to me than the fact that he helped me buy my first car or paid for half of my university tuition. Over 25 years later, here I am coming to the realization that if my mother dies first and my dad can’t take care of himself, I’m going to have him come live with my wife and I rather than allow him to go to a retirement home. I can’t believe a beat-em-up arcade game has made that big of a paw-print on the mudbank of my heart, but there you go. 🤷🏼♂️

@aarondumas16295 жыл бұрын
@SimpleSite Longplays I remember been playing old arcades on MAME since around 2000s, and it already wasn't any news even back then. BTW you don't need emulators to set difficulty on arcade games, they just simplify the proccess. Old arcade boards has switches to control things like the number of credits per coin and game difficulty. Newer boards like CPS2 and NEOGEO ones already do this on software, then we always could play arcades on very easy with infinite lives even in a real arcade machine, but arcade owners usualy keep it on medium to hard cause it's more proffitable after all.

This is such a nostalgia trip; the good kind, too! I loved the show and was always watching it, but just as much a huge fan of this game. Back when Konami knew how to make a good game. Whoeever was playing did an excellent job, too! It's definitely fun to see all four turtles, but sometimes that makes the game a lot harder since there's more enemies to accommodate them.

I think this was the first game I saw that really broke the mold as far as graphics and sound. It was the first of the next generation of arcade games and completely blew people away. 8-year-old me would watch it run on demo over and over even when I couldn't successfully beg my mom for quarters (I think she began asking for dimes and nickels as change on purpose after a while).

Many later games, to say the least, have tried to emulate this one's style. Konami themselves would adapt and refine the game style reuse the concept for several later beat em ups (The Simpsons, Sunset Riders, X-Men, Bucky O'Hare, Asterix, Mystic Warriors: Wrath of the Ninjas, Violent Storm, and Metamorphic Force, etc.)

+Matthew Davis Nintendo ports were crap compared to the arcade versions. That's because the NES was 8-bit, but the arcade game was probably 32-bit with custom graphic and sound chips. I was really disappointed at the ports of TMNT Arcade for NES and Final Fight for SNES. Turtles in Time was ok, but the arcade seemed to have better sound. I always thought that Atari 2600 ports of arcade games paled in comparison to the arcade originals, too. Newer systems like Saturn and PlayStation could emulate arcade games better, but since they were CD-ROM they had load times. I wonder why Konami never released TMNT Arcade for a more advanced home system, except the Xbox port. There were crappy computer versions, too.

Yeah final fight sucked for snes. They fucking left out guy!! What kind of shit was that?? I personally loved Turtles in time for Snes.
