I remember seeing preview stills of this in vg&ce back in the day and being amazed, watching this video shows it's even better than I imagined.

Classic PC Engine/Turbo Duo game. Excellent graphics, fun game play, and an outstanding soundtrack. Hopefully it will be ported to the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console.

Stage 4 isn't impossible but can be cheap. This guy clearly used magic engine and save states. You need to speed burst quite a bit and learn when and where the worms come it. Keep playing the highlights are the 5 and 6 stages!

I beat this game about three times now so that should tell you guys that it's far from impossible. True, stage 4 is tough, but if you do what 4Obfuscate said, you should be fine. Also, stage 5 is easier than stage 4. Stage 6 is the ultimate test for it requires absolute concentration and fast thinking. Quite an awesome game!

19:08 The final level is interesting. No sound effects. Just an endlessly scrolling quiet chaos with beautiful music playing.

Apparently a representative for the company said they weren't considering porting this series to modern consoles since there's little demand. ☹️ But I wanties.

I think this series was heavily influenced by R-type. The last 2-3 levels make that clear, as does the ending. My reaction, though, is that this is R-type (or any of its sequels) with less polish and technical skill in the play and presentation. R-type games are typically a visual tour de force throughout. Gradius, for all its tossed-salad recycling of levels, mid-boss, and boss fights in each sequel, feels grander in scale. I only got a few flashes of equivalent brilliance in this or the first game. The music is the best aspect of this sequel, but the sound effects are not up to the level of its contemporaries.

LMAO! This is nothing like R Type!... If you knew anything about shooters you would see that this is more like the Thunder Force series... R Type is a slow plodding snore fest and over shadowed by many great shooters from the 16 Bit era

Easy?! This game is from 1992 here, there wasn't a bullet hell genre back then. This is a tough as hell but visual tour de force if you're good enough to survive it. The shoot em up genre doesn't always revolve around the bullet hell here.
