Didn’t believe this would work but I tried it just the once and the circular set of buttons (left, right, okay, etc.) started working again for just a second! Was then inspired and decided if it’s dirt that’s stopping it I would get a toothpick and try to dig out any gunk I could! Spent about 5 minutes sticking the stick in and moving about (pulled out loads of dark, squidgy dirt 🤢) - put the batteries back in and voila! Working tv remote once again! Lifesaver - it’s been annoying me for weeks on end, were on the verge of replacing it, so thank you for saving us a good tenner! God send!

Thanks for the video. Pressing all the buttons a few times worked for me. However, the problem came back a few hours later, so I removed the 2 screws on the back under the battery cover plate and unclipped the 3 hidden clips on each side to release the top plate. Then I removed the rubber button mat and using rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab, I cleaned all the grooves in the rubber mat (topside and underside) and I cleaned twice all the pads on the circuit board where the rubber buttons make contact. My Sony RM-YD075 remote is working again.

Whoa - thanks for the idea. I have 2 Sony BR players that I rarely try to use, but on occasion I would like to watch a DVD or Blu-ray & even though the remote appears to be in perfect condition (don't ask me why I have 2 players & 1 remote, no idea), it does absolutely nothing. I tried this pushing all the buttons idea, but there's clearly no lotion or anything dirty in the remote, it just seems dead. I'm going to try your idea. Your comment is 2 years old but I'm still going to come back & answer as to whether or not it worked bc let's face it, everyone likes to help someone else out if they can.

I really can't believe that this worked! Remote was completely dead. 1 yr old tv. Replaced the batteries, still dead. Did this once and worked like a charm! (Little tip: Aim your remote at your cell phone camera and you can see the infrared sensor blinking if the remote is working.) Really helps with trouble shooting.

Wow, that's a great idea - if no infra red, clearly it is a truly dead remote & needs more than just a little bit of button pushing. Thanks for this idea, now I am hell-bent on getting this damn thing to work. Worst case scenario I tear it all apart & throw it out- it's trash at this point anyway.

I was gonna actually pass up on this technique because it looked too good to be true and had 100% doubt it would work. Nothing else ever works on this damn You Tube How-To Videos. Glad I did now! OMG, I can't believe it actually worked, because for me it was the ENTER button that wasn't working, the POWER button was fine. I just bought a Sony DVD/VCR Combo with the remote at a yard sale and everything is still working, just had that remote ENTER button not working. Now EVERYTHING WORKS! My remote had battery acid leak inside, i cleaned with it with alcohol and would not turn back on so I had low hope for this working.
