I will never ever tire of watching those last 10 minutes. The genius of Lloyd Williams to make that infield kick for the try. The shove on England's line-out from the penalty was the stuff of legend. Watching it again brings back all the emotions from that day. An incredible game to be a Wales fan. Beating England on their own patch, in their own World Cup, with a squad decimated by injuries. It doesn't get better than that.

I was lucky to be at the match and have watched it time and time again but my heartbeat still rises for this final 10 minutes and that try and of course the winning penalty just warms my heart every single time. To win matters in their own back yard at the cowshed in Middlesex and I have a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes as I watch 🏴 win this match. One of the happiest days of my entire life and will carry it to my grave. Ecstatic!

@Gwyn Evans: We should be reminding England of Lawrence Dallaglio's decision in 1999 to ask Jonnyy Wilkinson to kick a penalty to touch, with a 6-point lead at Wembley - because a 9-point victory wouldn't be a big enough statement to the Southern Hemisphere nations that England meant business for the RWC1999. Of course, Wales stole that lineout, went 60 metres with Gibbs scoring and Jenkins converting to 32-31, with Guscott missing a last-second drop goal attempt. BUT CREDIT IS TO BE EARNED, not just handed out. We've NEVER even reached the RWC Final, let alone won it... Where we only had around 30 world-class players capable of competing against those South Africans in 2019, they had 100-150, so taking off their captain was far from strategic suicide. Many would also add that playing the Aussies EARLY in the RWC2019 pool phase meant we were fresh for tough competition, and would never have otherwise stood a chance, having to play at our best to defeat Fiji and Georgia just to win the pool. A scenario we're heavily dependant on, now the second seed in our RWC2023 poo is... those bloody Aussies again! The solution to having so fewer players of top class standards? We have to be brave, and bring in a two-tier, ten club division competition for domestic club rugby, each splitting into two halves of five after nine games - and with brutal relegation consequences for those who don't take every second of every game with 100% dedication. In other words, of those 5 teams in the top tier that miss 'the cut' (as they say in golf), only 6th survives relegation completely, with 10th & 9th automatically down and 8th with a one-off AWAY play-off vs 3rd in tier two ad 7th with a one-off HOME play-off vs 4th in tier two. Similar, brutal relegation pinned on those in the bottom half of tier two (and who'd want to be travelling in November-March to Georgia/Russia/Romania if relegated to tier three?). There are also many ways that both European competitions should be considered for reform, in ways that would win the sport more respect from a wider sports' viewing public.

Mostly Welsh fans in the comments, and rightly so. England fan here. I watched this game with my Finnish girlfriend while trying to explain the laws. After an enjoyable 70 minutes, the last 10 made me feel sick. Wales were amazing and England could do nothing about it. Should they have kicked the penalty with a few minutes left? Probably, but it was a difficult angle, far from the guaranteed three points that many would have you believe. At the time, I didn't mind them going for the corner, but I was surprised they went short with their lineout after having so much success going long all game. The way Wales defended it was amazing. I've almost never seen England's forward pack get outmuscled like that. To all the Welsh fans watching, enjoy the memories.

Why oh why do English commentary always make out Wales beating England is such a rarety? Last time I checked Wales have really good Record yead to head, its pretty much neck and neck for over a century, with English ahead by like 4 wins. Which is seriously impressive for Wales seeing the level of infrastructure, player base etc when compared to each other. Lets not forget either that they share the most Four/Five/Six Nations titles with 39 each. Apparently, if you used the pts difference instead of the sharing method, Wales would be on 37 Titles and England on 30.

I stressed about this game from the day the group of death fixtures were announced. As a Welshman I knew if we were to survive and reach the quarter finals; beating England was our best chance. The week leading to this game, I was researching recent Wales v England results and speculating how we could beat them at their own World Cup. When Bigger kicked that halfway winner, the rush felt nearly as good as jumping into bed with one of the most gorgeous one night stands I ever had. When it went over, England players and fans knew this wasn't their day and that Wakes had just hammered the first nail in there world cup coffin. Even sweeter at Twickenham. Kinda like going round the guy you hates house and shagging his wife in their bed. 😅 Was great being at Twickenham the following week and claiming the old enemies home as ours. Yes... we lost that game to the boks but given our injury ravaged sqaud, kicking England out of their own tournament and against all odds getting out of the group of death at England's expense was satisfaction enough for me. At the final whistle I had bok fans come and shake my hand and say had it not been for our horrific injury count... Wales would have won that world cup.
