Tyler, I am a retired KC-135/KC-10 Boom Operator, and I remember doing some of the first aerial refuelings of the C-17. You absolutely nailed that first landing, and demonstrated your pilot proficiency. Congratulations on the completion of the project and its maiden flight. I’m looking forward to the completed project with the landing gear installed, and finished paint. I would have truly enjoyed seeing it with operating cargo doors. Here’s an idea for a project, a KC-135 or KC-10 with an operating boom that lowers into refueling position. Continue the great work.

@@jcheck6 No I never got to refuel the Dragonfly. It was in our Tech Orders, but they were also being phased out and replaced by the A-10's. Of course the T model was still being used, but we both know that was used for training. I did get to refuel the F-101 Voodoo, F-105 Thunder Chief, F-106 Delta Dart, and the F-4 Phantom (both Air Force and Navy), before they all were retired. There aren't too many planes that I didn't refuel in my global deployments (1874-1995).

Not just RC, but the real deal too. I’m an airline Captain. In basic flight training, (It is no different at the airlines)everyone is taught to go to flight idle and that removes the thrust from the equation, as the flare is being implemented, an increase in the angle of attack is aerodynamically braking (bleeding off airspeed) as well as reducing the sink rate. That being said, with ground effect, and the reduction of the sink rate with an increase in AOA; at some point with the reduction of thrust, comes the loss of lift and momentum. You have the 4 forces of flight, in a stabilized approach, the nose has a vector that is high, but it’s tracking about a 45° descent. When the flare without the reduction of thrust is performed, the 45° vector lessens to a more shallow degree, which should mostly parallel the runway, usually by adding slight power and lowering the nose (AOA) is a great technique. The flare with the reduction of thrust, especially the rate of change, takes the 45° descent and brings it down to almost a 90° descent to gravity; and there’s how you slam it in. If the pitch changes, so does the power and vise versa. Smoothness is based upon rate of change. I too noticed him adding power, and I was impressed.

What a great build!! It looks so real when flying, I am telling you, as a pilot, if I saw this in the air out of the window of my plane, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Wow, look at the size of it! Massive! Will you post some details about weight, kWh of batteries on board, etc? Tyler is a great pilot. Team effort to get this massive plane finished, just amazing. Bravo you guys! 👍💪✌️

I'm curious what the power/weight ratio is. It's certainly taking off with a very short roll.

@@NSResponder The cargo bay doesn't have any tanks in it 😄, it's way more able for sure. It's a beauty.

I worked on the C-17 project in Long Beach. Witnessing its maiden flight back then gave me goosebumps. Thanks for bringing back a good memory. Very realistic reproduction.

My man lands a 15 foot wid plane, on a couch dolly! Love it! I love how you guys were so excited to get in the air, you strap a dolly on it, instead of waiting on the landing gear to come in. Great landing Tyler!

My god that model C-17 sounds exactly like the real one in the air. I can't wait to see it with realistic retractable gears whenever its built.

You just don't FPV Big RC planes, it's to dangerous and straight illegal in some places - direct visual contact only. One gust of wind and you are loosing spatial awareness and wreck 50 000$ plane or worse, you crash 100kg plane into someone's kid. FPV is fun for small drones and ultralights, keep it away from Big RC.

Liked how tyler kicked the crab out on the first landing so as not to stress the tandem main landing gear. Good flying.

EXELLENT WORK! Just wanted to add that it would look way better if there was some vinyl wrapping or better painting on it.. Also ramy, you take of your planes at like full throttle with a high angle of attack.... PLs make it a bit slow and the plane should take off like a bit more down th runway! IT WILL LOOK SO REALISTIC!
