Worlds Fastest 90mm EDF Unboxing- Schubeler DS-51-DIA-HST

My DS-51-DIA-HST arrived today. I have put it inside my F-22 fuselage. I thought it will be a 30min job, but it took 3 hours(!). This fan is 93mm EDF with a very large intake lip (which I had to trim by half anyway), plus the ESC wires need to go around it, rather all together on top - I had to cut out A LOT of foam to fit it all. If you did not do the work yet, get a hot U-shaped wire for styrofoam cutting first.

My long term ongoing project was also to make the most powerful Freewing F-22, it looks like we are on the same track. Currently I am using a Schubeler 90mm HDS with HET 700-75-1250 on 12S, but yesterday I also ordered a 93mm HST fan to step up :) One tip from me: the ducting is OK for the stock motor (little difference between reference values and installed thrust), but for such extreme setups, both inlet and outlet are way too small. I removed the duct splitter (two horizontal cuts) and added a cheater hole in the EDF cover, just in front of the fan. This has increased the performance by A LOT - for no cost or added weight. I don't have the old values, but I after the mods I have 6.8kg (15lb) of installed thrust at 155A using SMC HVs. I hope to get 7.5kg using some less amps with the HST.

@@hamiltonshangar I saw this one. You gave me some inspiration, to get the Schubelers. I have just added two flight videos of my setup today - check them out. One more tip - you mentioned you want to use two 6000mah batteries. If remove the balsa battery board, then you will be able to put them in the back, on top of each other. This will give you a neutral CG.

@@adamtrzaskowski3901 damn man that’s awesome!! I do have a 6000mah flight on the channel as well. You can do whatever you want to this jet lol. I did check out your flights and that thing is light! Consider reinforcement in the fuse and wings before throwing the HST in there. It’s so beneficial. I can share my build anytime. :)

@@hamiltonshangarI am using the extra power for verticals and coming out of 3d maneuvers. I actually never went full power for longer then 2-4 seconds. Extra reinforcements would make it heavier and hamper the 3d performance - and I would still be risking structural failure ;)

Beautiful EDF...My question is...How are you planning to fit two 6S 5000mAh batteries in the Raptor's battery compartment? IDK man, that ESC is gigantic and is gonna kill your airflow. How many amps is it specd to pull? Should be fine with a good simple low profile YPG 150a HV ESC and ditch that cooling fan.

Were not using the fan we just haven’t took it off yet and we’re adjusting for the ESC :)
