Thanks for being so candid Sam. A lot of champions have been there after achieving their childhood dreams, and the why is the key question to put the efforts again. The motto of being bigger than the sport and putting some light on Triathlon sounds like a healthy and inspiring pursuit !

Great stuff man, I think that there is no one out here that can truly empathize with your situation. Although, I have been going through a very rough patch in life, I DNF a 70.3 earlier this year and I've been using your videos as fuel to keep training. It helps to know that it is just as difficult for the best guy as it is for me. Cheers Sam, hope to see you crush Kona in 2024. Watching you win Nice was the highlight of the season.

! Tu es génial ! Continu Sam , un plaisir de te suivre 🎉

Great video....High's and low's are something all competitive athletes can relate to at every level. As an amateur triathlete I've set goals and achieved them time and time again. Although I'm proud of them I'm never content. All i end up doing is setting higher goals to try and find some closure that in reality is not there! I keep asking myself "Am i doing this for me or am i trying to prove something to others?" Probably the later!!! I've now made a 'leap of faith' and changed my mindset to focus more on enjoying the sport that I'm so passionate about. I still have goals but they are not the 'be all, end all'. I've now surrounded myself with good people in and out of the Triathlon world including a coach who understands my shift in mindset. For you as a professional athlete you do have the increased pressure of performing to earn money and the pressures of social media. On a real positive note i bumped into you at Challenge London in Costa. I didn't hassle you but my 10 year old son who has just started competing in triathlon's was so excited to see you and when you became World Champ he was your biggest fan. Your inspiring the next generation buddy.

Sam, I dont really have a brillant question that going to make you want to repeat this question on air. So I guess I'll make one up on the spot based on my situation. I'm a classic AG athlete that started the sport exactly five years ago. I have no endurance sport background. I have a kid that dosen't sleep and she is two years old. I work in tech more than full time, trust me. I have a goal to go under 10 hours in IM Hamburg next year in my second IM start. Will I make it and am I crazy? .
