Worlds First 2018 Mustang GT Ghost Cam tune

Here is a sneak peak of the worlds first ghost cammed 2018 mustang gt. Working to get the smaller bugs worked out but this should be close to the end product. American muscle's very own Ryan M. and I have been collaborating to get this wicked tune out to those who have a 2018-2019 GT as soon as possible. For those who don’t know, on cold start the cams are locked at 0 until it reaches a certain temp then they unlock to the programmed overlap. This is not a fuel related CHOP. Same as a pushrod cam but only at idle. A pushrod cam has a set overlap that doesn’t change thru out the RPM range, where these engines the overlap can change per the tune all the way to redline. This info is for those who say it fake.

This is the MBRP race series with long tubes. The ATAK cat-back is a mean setup though.

It's just locked in high lope. Just not on the gas saver lope. No performance difference, but sure sounds sweet asf. People been doing it for vvt a.k.a. Vtec cars for ages mostly 4 bangers. Who really needs it to run on the low lope, just better drivability and gas saving benefits on low lope. Maybe they make high lope cams only for the stangs, wouldn't need this tune then.

How much power does this tune make paired with Longtube headers and a CAI? I also would like to run nitrous as well but I could just have this Ghost tune and than a separate nitrous tune right?

This is not a tune for power. It is actually less power than a standard 93 tune at idle. Other than idle it will be just like a standard tune. I would definitely recommend having those tunes separate.

well over 2 years later and still nothing. have an american muscle tune on my car and i went from 460 hp at the crank to under 250 at the wheels after the tune. P061B error code after its gone less than a mile. several revisions later still does it. gonna have to pay for another tune from somewhere else so the car is drivable again

This setup is the BBK long tube headers with no cats and a custom 3" midpipe straight back through the MBRP race series cat back.

@@COBHC8890 I was able to write the tune so that the O2's don't throw any codes. However, doing so is becoming increasingly harder as the EPA is cracking down on tuning platforms like SCT allowing for this function.

definitely less horsepower at the moment. Once things clear up I'm hoping to work with the new tuner to get a better setup.

Can someone tell me why no one can seem to just get an actual cam for this car? I've been looking for that answer everywhere and no word on why. Is it just as simple as no one has developed one yet due to the engine being relatively new? If that's the case I find that weird for a car that's been highly customizable for half centurys now.

You can certainly get a custom cam ground through comp cams. However, the cam phasers in the car for the vvt are set up so that you would need to lockout the cams. This means you would get a more traditional pull and torque curve. With the vvt the car continuously makes changes so that the intake and exhaust timing is "optimized".

CreationsOfMyOwn there are several companies out there that offer cams for the 5.0 but the gains aren’t huge. The VVT gives you a lot to work with as far as cams go. The only big reason to swap cams out would be for boosted set ups and even then the stock cams to awesome

This is the thing it used to be that people needed cams to make big power but these motors cam easily make 700+hp on stock cams with no issue. The amount of time and money it takes to replace cams in these cars almost isnt worth it, and given that many aftermarket cams still utilize VCT you won't get any chop anyway.

That would depend on the cams and tuner. As far as this video this is a ghost cam which only acts this way at idle to 1000 rpm. After that it goes back to a standard 93 octane tune for the setup.

Does this tune work with automatic transmissions? I’ve heard that it does and that it doesn’t I’m just curious as to if it does as I am debating on getting that tune

I personally don't recommend it for auto cars as it does seem to be iffy at idle. Unfortunately I no longer work for BAMA and I'm not sure how the tunes have been improved in the last few months.Gas milage and drivability are reduced with the tune for both auto and manual cars as well. I rarely run this tune anymore and definitely wouldn't daily drive on it.

Right now we are still working on the 18-19 ghost cam but we do have one for the 11-17. The tune is all you would need but it is recommended to have a cat delete otherwise the sound is much more mild. Also this car is cat-less with a full 3" straight exhaust from the header collectors back.
