Hi, Matt! I hate it when I can't nod sagely when you give your views on a Bourbon, but sadly, most of these whiskeys were not (or are not) readily avaiIable at my liquor store in Memphis. In fact, the only one I've actually had is the Elijah Craig B520, and it is indeed mighty fine, although a little on the high proof side for my tastes, at 127. I tend to find more enjoyment and flavor when the proof is around 100 to 115. Thanks again for the view from the summit!

Great top 10 list WTWT! Never heard of that doc swinger or whatever that fancy looking bottle was. I gotta agree completely on the #1 That C920 May be my favorite ECBP of all time. Technically for me the best bourbon I’ve had this year was released last year. I finally found a bottle of KO batch 9! That is one amazing blend! You can bet I’ll keep an eye out for batch 10 as well. I feel like all the competition in the bourbon industry now that it is allowing us to benefit with some pretty amazing pours. Can’t wait for 2021! Cheers!

Well done! I’m trying to find this Bourbon but the labeling is very confusing. There’s small batch/small batch, small batch/ barrel proof and barrel proof /barrel proof. What’s the difference other than the obvious?

They were running low on glass containers. So some of the ECBP bottles do mistakenly have the "small batch" engraving/embossing on the glass. Ignore that. What you're looking for is the proof and or batch statement. If the proof is 94, then it's just their Small Batch. If the proof is north of 125, then it's their Barrel Proof. Then you're just checking to see which batch it came from. They will each start with one of the following 3 letters: A, B, C. Indicating if it was the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd batch of that year. Next you'll look for the first number following that letter. It should only be one of these 3 possible numbers, 1, 5, 9. "1" is for January and will coincide with the 1st batch (A1). "5" is for May and will coincide with the 2nd batch of the year ("B5). "9" is for September and goes with the 3rd batch of the year ("C9") Finally, the last 2 numbers in the batch name will designate the year. So a batch ending with the two digits "19" will be for the 3 batches of 2019. Ending in "20" will be for last year, and batches ending in "21" are for this year (2021 if someone is reading this in the future 😉) So the bottles currently on shelves, if you can find it, should be ECBP "A121" for being the 1st batch ("A") of the year, bottled & released in January ("1") of 2021 ("21") I don't recall the proof, but it's around the area of 131 to 133 if I recall correctly.

They also use these designations for their Larceny Barrel Proof releases. I passed up the opportunity to buy the Larceny BP batch A121, but I did get last years Larceny BP B520. The magazine publication "Whiskey Advocate" awarded it their 2020 Whiskey of the Year. Each of these, Elijah Craig and Larceny are each scheduled to have 3 Barrel Proof releases this year, A121, B521, C921

I was enamored after seeing wild Turkey Masters Keep 17 in 2020. I can't remember how I first came across the advertisements for it, but however it happened, It stuck with me. Well, as fate would have it, I was traveling on business and was invited to a hole in the wall seafood restaurant in Rockport, Texas, called "495 Chesapeake Eats". Through a series of trips to the bar, it just so happened the bartender was the owner of the place, and had an affinity for bourbon. I asked him if he had any masters keep. He chuckled and said the guy at the end of the bar was drinking it. As I proceeded to ask, he abruptly said... I have a bottle of Pappy 20 year.

Matt, while I enjoyed the content of the video, not sure what's up with the tight close up, whispering or tight shot of the seven or so bottle of whiskey on the shelves behind you, but would it would be helpful to know where you live (at least the region) and how you're able to get your hands on some of that stock. Not so easy in east Texas (nor Lexington, KY where I work) and roughly the cost range for each given your statement these are "available". Would that include the secondary market or are you just lucky to have an "in" with a local distributor or retailer?

I'm curious though how KO Batch 9 didnt make the list since you had it repeatedly blow some of these others (like EHTBP2020) out of the water in head to heads. Discovery 4 & Doc Swinson isn't a big surprise. The same juice that's in Swinson's is the 15 yr part of Discovery 4. It's the magical mystery juice of 78.5%/13%/8.5% that's also Three Chord Whiskey Drummer, Cathead Old Soul, and some others. The only one that wasn't in the mix that surprises me is Old Carter. So many reviewers have rated that in the same class. Unfortunately I've had a chance to buy only 3 of the 10. KO is an honorable mention in availability because I can get others, just not that particular one.
