Stock mic has electret condenser and is powered up from the radio, personally I think it's the best sounding especially on SSB.....boy these radios got a lot of grief first hitting the market about the size and lack of controls on front panel...ha now we gotta be careful with the little power house's cause they keep blowing transistors lol... crazy high pwr little units thanks for the in depth review average vs pep and current draw

I had one of those, loved it fir about 2 wks. then it took a dump on me,the shop I got it from made it right though,now I got a cobra 148

@@andik859 don't know exactly,swr came up high on a good antana,the shop took it back and said it was junk,then made me a 148 to replace it

Hook it to the battery, just like a normal vehicle? If you don't have enough battery power you can always add a super capacitor to help support your system

I keep stock mic in truck,as back up,I've had mics crap out and gone to back up,or another trucker does and I give it to him,usually their stock cobra mics
