This video is a 3-way shingling race between myself, one of the greatest roofers to ever live, and of course everybody's favorite young stud, Boycub. Please Like, subscribe, hit the bell and DON'T FORGET TO SHARE WITH YOUR SHINGLING FRIENDS WHO THINK THEY'RE FAST. LOL. Oh, and as always, no quality was sacrificed in the making of this video. Quality always comes first, there's no glory in being the fastest hack!

This video is my new favorite! I love to shingle, I love competition, and I'm thrilled that I was able to make a video with a long time roofing friend. A legend in the game, a man who is widely regarded as the fastest, quality Shingler in NW Indiana. A man that I learned so much from and had the opportunity to roof with for years before starting my business. Please show support for the 29 year roofing veteran that made this all possible. ALSO, if you don't believe me that this is my teacher....fast forward to 12:30 lmfaooo

i'm telling you man, it looks that way...but its not true lol shingling alone without a tosser is far more like a marathon that it is a sprint. even the pace we put on in this video is hard to hold for an entire day. anybody that tells you otherwise is lyinnnn lol thanks for watching though
@NWIVeteranConstruction
@NWIVeteranConstruction 11 ай бұрын
also, it comes down to the finest details. see my most recent yt short and you can see we shingle at basically the same exact pace. the difference that allowed him to beat me by 3 minutes was the finest details stretched throughout the time we shingle. the most common misconception about shingling speed is how fast you nail. speed nailing is actually the least likely thing to contribute to speed, and the most likely thing to contribute to problems

heyo 12 year roofing OG here, before i watch who wins may i suggest kneepads to brutacub i know you guys prolly all set in routine. I really think knee pads and a proper high quality blade with a new-like bostich gun is unstoppable in terms of speed installment without sacrifice on quality nail placement. And 120 bundle day for ducky thats insane...... i take that as new con, and like 16 hours? can i get details on that? the 2 guys i learned from and myself i would consider the fastest/with quality. My best is 36-38 reno, and like 45 new-con both 12-14 hour days (with breaks). Thanks for content always love to see decent roofing, Respect from Canada
@NWIVeteranConstruction
@NWIVeteranConstruction 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching man I appreciate the comment. And the 120 bundles was all me. Ducky did like 33 sq one time. But yea the day i got 40 sq it wasn't actually new construction. Me and 4 others tore off about 60 sq, then the next day I shingled 40 sq. Completely alone. I filmed every shingle I installed that day because I know most people wouldn't believe a story like that. And I also went yt live in the middle, and in the end so it was documented on youtube for extra proof. You can check out the videos "quest for 50 sq" oh and it was about 12 hour day. When I edited the film though (for a video which I haven't published yet) the film was only 8 hours n some change when I cut all the trips down the ladder and breaks out of it. So I did it all in about 8.5 hours of having a gun in my hand, with no help at all.

Hit the gym or something to burn off some steam when you're feeling ancy and don't forget to praise the benefits when you notice them. @@NWIVeteranConstruction you get the shingle in place fairly quick the nail placement is pretty good but resting the gun on the shingle and using one hand to place while standing is a bit slower for me than kneeling and dropping the gun to use both hands to place. Speed also depends on how hot it is and what shingles you use.

@chadthurston2923 you can watch my quest for 50 sq. It was the day after tearing off About 60 sq. And then I shingled alone the next day. Put on 40 sq. Filmed every bit of it too. Standing up is just something you have to get used to it. Everybody did it on my crew so it came natural to me and speed mostly depends on how you set up. The only reason I got 40 sq down alone is because I have a well thought out system and planned accordingly so I don't have to go far for my bundles and they were also never in my way.

Bro. For years!! Him and i listened to People say that shit when they got hired on. Every single one of them was destroyed. Like, didn't even do 30% of what either of us did in a day. Noticing that is what made me 100% certain that making videos about roofing would be beneficial. Helping others learn and drop the delusion. I've installed 40 sq alone in one day. No tosser. Just me and a camera man on the roof and I'm sending the video to guiness for the world record so guys like you can drop the ego and learn. I've also personally seen him do 33 sq in one day. completely alone! about 6 years ago. You have no chance. We can hold this pace for 12 hours and are highly efficient. Day after day. We are different. The fact that you even mentioned hand nailing shows me the lack of understanding you have when it comes to completing a task in a highly efficient manner. Clearly, you don't see what we see because if you did you wouldn't say something so stupid.

I hate to be this guy, but i cant hold my tongue when a guy claims to be the fastest roofer on earth. But takes 30min to install 2square on a cake area. It literally doesnt get easier than a full hip with no penetrations and 4/12 pitch! You dont have to be precise or clean with youre cuts because of course tge ridge cap will cover... anyhow by that math if the 40 square you installed was a straight gable with no penetrations and walkable pitch you still would be at least 8 sq short of the 40 you claim. Anyhow you do good work but i dont think you could hold a candle to me or some of my guys that work for me. Sorry not buying it.

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast is my literal motto. Fast doesn't count if you're a hack. We're the best in the world at our jobs that's why we're aloud to get fast at it. And they're not staples, they're nails with barbs on them that will hold shingles on better than those barbless hand bangs. Also, tar is so far advanced these days it practically does all the work. Check into GAF only nailing the perimeter shingle and then wind testing the shingles in the field that never received nails (they were only allowed sufficient time for the tar to stick). Trust me man, there's nobody that pays more attention to quality than me. It's the sole reason I have the following that I do on here. Check out my part 3 of my most recent roofing series video and let me know if I left anything out you want me to add in 🤣
