Best I've ever seen Liam Pitchford play. A lot of non Chinese players are doing really well recently. If the Olympics don't get canceled, we could be in for a very exciting tournament.

I think the 2-player rule in the Olympic singles is great because it gives players from other countries a shot at winning medals. After all, table tennis is a sport to be shared with everyone, not monopolized.

The reason that makes Olympics cancelled is the same reason that makes Chinese players so down in Qatar tournament-they have been wandering for months without truly systematic preparation.

Yep, I've wanted to say exactly the same. Gauzy, Pitchford and probably some other non Chinese contestants have obviously improved their speed and techniques. Rallies against Chinese last longer now and it doesn't feel like China undisputedly dominates the game.

Good we all noticed that. But he indeed won points from there. Also FZ wasnt attacking straightaway from there so it wasnt a bad try. I think Liam fell short in bh shots from FZ, Defending and also his serve returns from Bh were lot of faults and then in last game he missed some forehand loops and flicks etc. Overall i loved the way liam played this tournament. Good to see all non chinese final.

Same could be said of Pitch!!! If Pitch somehow grew up in China under their system he would be number 1 even better or at least on par with FZD &ML for sure. ALOT of the Chinese are just drilled to perfection. Pitch is extremely natural ask any coach worth his salt. Under a system of Chinese training his fullest potential would of been realised.

I think this match can go either way on a good day for both. Liam's ball placement is superb but FZD's athleticism is unreal. He was returning shots in opposite corners that very few other players would even touch. You could tell Liam wasn't used to those kind of shots being returned consistently.

I m really excited Olympic tournaments, I think anyone dont know who win that. plus, I am curious about China's choice of Omlypic tournament. ML, FZD, XX FZD and XX are unstable when their plays aren't going well or aren't under pressure. also, ML got hurt not long ago now, He wouldn't be best conditioned. Of course, ML now recovers and plays a game . you know that ML is not same as before.

Great backhands from an in-form Pitchford. Two games from Fan is not shabby at all. Fan Zhendong was expected to win. No pressure on Pitchford. Fan did his job competently. Pitchford couldn't backhand block Fan's forehand loop to his backhand side. Pitchford's backhand is set up to do a quick wrist counter. Inadequate against Fan's spinny forehand loop.

Мне оба игрока не очень симпатичны, но тут Фан очень хорошо отыграл. Лиам подготовился к этом туру технически и физическая форма отличная. Не все справились с его бекхендом, скидка справа по месту не удобная, его подачи не все принимают, да и в средней зоне от него очень мощно летит. Обычно он быстрее теряет баланс и ногами не успевает.
