A beautiful timepiece that is both timeless and modern. It is inspired from the past that Alpina have produced from the 1920' and 1930's. All Alpina are made by hand in Geneve. Pilot watches all tend to have similar looks. That is why Alpina may have some traits of IWC and other brands. It has not taken ideas but just shared some and made it better.

I like Alpina, their watches typically are quite legible to read and do the job. They are fine watches, they also are great tool watches.

You should know that this movement has a big problem with the rotor ball bearing. The rotor will stop turning in a short while. Seen this on several watches, the ball bearing is simply too small for the rotor's weight. We annouced Frederique Constant about the issue but they seem to ignore it.

Alpina makes some great looking sport watches but their logo is rather large and kind of dominates the dial too much. Wish they shrunk it a bit so it was a little more subtle

I kind of like that watch, crown shape resembles and reminds the lost days of 1950's 60s elegant international playboy lifestyle in Riviera, Monaco etc. when masculinity and testosterone levels were naturally much higher than today. Movement brings back the cool days of/and/or watching nature documentaries from authentic small crt tv in the mid 1980s. Strap is on par with genuine memories that balanced my mind in early 2000's internet boom and especially dial up modem sounds. Mandatory rating 7,88/10,23.

Why does the date seem weird. Right after the 7 it appears to be a 6 instead of a 9?

because after the 7 the numbers are switched to looking at them on the bottom of the circle..

I like their newer Startimer with the closed back Sellitta better. It's less money and has more authentic styling. This one is too nice for a Pilot's watch. It's rather odd with the calendar subdial, and should be a seconds sundial. The collar around the dial is odd too. And the starburst finish dial is too flashy. Exhibition caseback is also wrong for this kind of watch.

@@roytrevisan3491 my point is why look at the movement. Unless it's some alien movement that took five years to create who cares. I don't need to see a 2428 or sw200 or seiko 5 movement. Thas like putting a glass caseback on a casio quartz watch .....totally pointless. Give me a solid caseback with some engraving on it or a stamp of somekind. If I need to tell time I look at the front of the watch. If I'm looking at the movement it's because something is wrong. Who cares if it's decorated. I just want it to work

An automatic watch IS the movement ANY watch tells time. Why is an automatic watch more expensive than a quartz watch???? ahaa the MOVEMENT which I can see Dude you dont appreciate the sophistication of the work involved in making an automatic watch, hundreds of individual components, thats OK buy quartz save thousands and be happy!!

These aren't ferrari super cars they are watches "dude"....I guess I just don't buy into the movement is the soul....its a fuckin watch....nobody cares. If u like the,way it looks. Thats all that matters. Again it's a watch....the movements are made quick as hell. By people in factorys on production lines. They break all the time. I'd rather have something that I know will work...that's why most of the time,I wear quartz. Ps don't ever compare cars and,watches. Its not even close to the same ballpark

Everybody is so soft when it comes to watches. too big, uncomfortable, crown pinch. OMG. It's just a watch. Yeah, it's big, bold and masculine. So everybody stop whining about "big" watches and running to 38mm. Must be a lot of small watch reviewers out there.
