The finishing microfiber pad should be used with 205. If anything use the orange pad with the 105 to cut more, then finish down with the 205.

BTC715 prob thought that the micro fibre is more agressive than the foam pad. In general it is, but a finishing MF is not more agressive than a medium foam pad

@devin Niemela... bro passes are how many times you go in one direction. Ex..(for all the times you go horizontal on one section is one pass. 2 passes would be on one panel horizontal and vertical.) rule of thumb for compounding is speed 6 with 5 passes with 5 pounds of pressure. So horizontal, vertical, horizontal,vertical, horizontal. Lol each line is not considered a pas. Plus armor shield is really not a good ceramic brand look into gtechniq or carpro or even kenzo. Evo wasn’t coated that long ago and there is no hydrophobic activity on it at all

Looks way better with the wet sand and buff nice job .we used to wet sand everything by hand rubber blocks and wet sand paper the DA is so nice way easier .
@ehesh14994 жыл бұрын
What I learned from watching Ammo nyc awhile ago is to get the clear coat warm with 6 total passes. (Vertically then horizontally= 1 pass). Also, ease up a bit on the polish & compound. You want the pad material to do the work too!
@gunnercotton4 жыл бұрын
there usually 3 pads. wool foam and ultra foam pad. they mostly use 3 steps for a black car

Next time use a compound with a microfiber cutting pad from meguiars. Finish after compound with a polish and and orange HDO foam pad from lake country manufacturing. From what you showed, you're using a compound for cut, but on a finish pad. Thats probably why you had to make so many passes.

Yo Dev ✌🏻 not trying to be a negative nancy here but that paint is SUPER hazy. Before you lay down ceramic, please get it out in the sun and double check the work. I suspect there will be a lot of refining work on that paint. Subie’s have VERY soft paint ! Just another detailer/youtuber tryna lookout for you bud ✌🏻🇿🇦

Creative Car Detailing, I was just going to say the same thing. Panels that he says are finished, look somewhat cloudy to me. Definitely makes sure they are all 100% before the ceramic coat process.

M205 with Megs cutting disc. Moderate pressure... with that soft Subaru paint is my go to. One step 85-95% correction with my LHR21. But hell you did what ya did with your options so at the end of the day. It worked!
@phillipsramoutar18364 жыл бұрын
that's true. Putting to much pressure can heat up the paint or clear too much. When the paint gets hot it can burn the paint.
@joshmorrow4244 жыл бұрын
@@phillipsramoutar1836 I HATE older Subaru paint. It's no effort to get good results. But the fine line of getting some marks out... you just can't between the age,softness and thinness of em. The VA (15+) Subaru made harder, still thin, and more of mess to work with. It still sucks 🤣

you're using the pads in the wrong order. the orange foam correcting pad is used first or in your case with the ultra cut compound and the microfiber fast-finishing pads is used last with the ultra finishing polish. Using the fast-finishing pad first would make the job take way longer and you would not be able to get out all the very heavy scratches. like your vids tho.

That paint is from someone who took it through the auto wash with brushes and probably washed it with a dirty sponge (after doing a swirling pattern when drying with a towel.) Pro Tip: When drying use the same pattern as if you were polishing.

devin. first off let me start by buttering you up. you're a G. you've shown me a lot of tricks. now its my turn to return the favor! I work detail/paint correction @ Honda/Nissan/Lincoln/Ford/Chrysler. i have a 20 year old B5 audi that has paint close to as reflective as glass. the reason your microfiber pads are falling apart is because you are taking off so much clear that you should probably considering respraying it. either that or you will cut all the way through teh clear. you can get away with it if you just ceramic coat it after a pretty hard cut (like i said be careful) and obviously polish before the coating.
@JACKOFALLFATES4 жыл бұрын
and if you respray anything you gotta have such low dust so you dont have to wet sand as much to get the fish eyes out.
@JACKOFALLFATES4 жыл бұрын
if you wanna cut corners use a regular rotary buffer to cut it down so you can press more with a wool pad. the 3 axis buffers take way too long.
@JACKOFALLFATES4 жыл бұрын
you notice how the pad stops spinning and just vibrates? It's because the pad is too large for the curve of the body. thats why it takes so long.
