Irma was bad but it was a dry hurricane, it brought immense humidity. Ian was worse because it caused flash floods, lots of rain with gust winds and it was very slow compared to Irma. The worst for me were Hugo and Charley. Thank goodness I wasn't in FL for Andrew and in Puerto Rico for Maria.

My father was born here in 1898, Arnau's. We are on the Menorcan memorial in the Catholic Church courtyard. Since we are related to the oldest house (through Alvarez marriage). I am the two times great nephew of the "Oldest House". Wish that they would show how those area's are doing around the Oldest House area. How the Historical Society is doing? Datil Peppers forever!! Please stay Safe, and may all the viewers have peace. This is so sad to see this flooding, to such a historic city. They WILL recover after this. BTW, great reporting by Jessica Clark and the other reporters.

My family owned what we were told is the 10th oldest house. In the family for 200 years but sold in the late 1970's. #56 Marine Street was the address if I remember correctly. Remember stories from my grandmother about moving furniture upstairs during hurricanes and then moving everything back downstairs once the storm is over. The house is built of cocina stone.

Because mother nature doesn't care about man made designations or political "feelings". She doe's what she wants. Always has and in the future will continue do regardless of what self indulgent humans think or do. Native Americans that occupied Americas southeast coast for thousands of years knew better than to live or build permanent structures along the low lying hurricane prone coast. Do stupid things win stupid prizes.

Isn’t St Augustine on the east?
@teresaharris-travelbybooks55642 жыл бұрын
Yes, the northeast, but Ian exited Florida via Volusia County, which is just south of St. Augustine, which means the rotation of the storm brought storm surge onto the city.

These type storms aren't new. But 8 billion people on the planet is. This storm wouldn't have done much damage 100 years ago. Today with three times as many people on the planet and three times as much infrastructure in place, there is simply a lot more damage to be done. Nobody thinks about that.

@carsnstuff13442 жыл бұрын
@@LightshamanaDhyana what do you mean by Hurricane coverage? Almost every homeowners policy covers damage caused by hurricanes. If you mean flooding, you will need flood insurance. Most mortgage companies require it for flood zone areas from the get-go so if you can't afford it then you can't afford that house. You can also buy flood insurance voluntarily, but FEMA sets the rules and rates.

I wonder when God shows up are these reporters going to have enough courage to go outside and focus on him like they do these tropical storms I don't think so they're going to be too busy running and hiding and crying we all are,,,, cuz then we will all realize that we are about to be judged for our sins how many of us will be truly forgiven,,,, if anyone would like to know look in the mirror and ask yourself this question you know what type of lifestyle that you live you know if it's wrong or right but the real true question is are you happy living the Way You Are and if you're living in sin and you're happy I truly pray for you and pity you and in return pray for me and Pity Me cuz none of us really know our true eternal destiny the majority of people that think they're going to heaven will not be because they have been deceived by the false prophets of the Earth they spent their life giving their money to the church looking for something in return When God already told you he sent his son before you and what did Jesus say I go to prepare a place for you there are many rooms in My Father's House if it was not so I would have told you so why are most of you giving your money to the church when Jesus already died for you just to prove to you what you was truly worth did he ask you to make a donation when he hung on that cross and he paid the cost so you and your soul would not be lost stop investing into worldly possessions an invest into the spiritual blessings may God help you and me because hell is real and so is the misery,,,,,,,

As someone who tithes to the church monthly I can't help but feel as though you misunderstood the message. I'm not tithing to make myself feel better thinking that I'm buying my way into heaven. Churches cost money to run, and by going to church every Sunday and enjoying the service and sermon, the least I can do is make my fair donations to their service to us. In addition, donations that we make help go towards community outreach and programs for the community. Which regardless of your religion or views, we should all be able to agree is a good thing. I'm not buying my way into heaven, I'm doing my part and giving back to the community. He has blessed me and so I happily share my blessings with others.

Your comment is gross and ignorant. St. Augustine is one of the oldest cities in the country, and the oldest in the state of FL. Founded in 1556, this city is drenched in incredible history that cannot be rebuilt or replaced.
