I am from Ukraine, and I must say that IT'S THE GREATEST VIDEO ABOUT GUITAR GEAR, PEDALS AND EFFECTS ORDER! Seriously! I've digged up whole KZbin and I haven't found more useful and more informative and quality video. In the end of it (when you use slider) I thought "It will be perfect if he shows e-bow tricks, but, probably not in this time" and after that you show it, man! ALL IN ONE! And I need to mention: all this video going in atmospheric cathedral or church building. Awesome! May God bless you, guys!!! Thanks you a lot! P.S. I'm really interested by your Thinline tele 72 reissure, and I will buy it in future.

Dude you know this video is old when they talk about using distortion in worship music. To me those were the days, I really like the direction that the genre is taking now but I was born musically in the 2008-2012 alternative music scene so yeah. I kind of love those oldies.

i like one thing that he added right at the end. Learn your theory. Learn your scales. I've been playing electric for a few churches for years now, and that's without a doubt the most important thing. Learning to be a musician is probably a good thing to do if you want to play music. Learn to break out of the standard things that everyone else does. Maybe (contrary to the video) play with a Led Zeppelin-esque sound. Maybe gain influence from people other than worship leaders. It helped me :)
@candrink11 жыл бұрын
that is a good point, it's important to see your playing as a form of worship too. That makes it meaningful to be creative in your playing. But I'd like to add that you can do anything as long as it's in the goal of helping people worship better. I'd say do what you do as long as it doesn't take peoples' attention away from God.

I feel that music is an awesome outreach to people. My band plays a strange blend of punk/progressive metal that glorifies God. We just released an EP, and have been playing out to spread the Word of Christ to the generally unpreached. I do have many of the pedals described here. Praises to da Father!!

It's a vintage 70s Thinline Telecaster - not sure which year though. They're really cool and unique because of the wide range humbuckers which can no longer be replicated b/c they don't make the same magnets anymore.

you can use any amp for worship! Just use what you have for now. In my experience every amp has its sweet spot so use your ears and play around until you find what works. Also, you don't actually need an amp these days - you can get some really great DIs with amp and speaker emulation. Just some thoughts - hope that helps!

OR instead of having your delay in your chain, you can run an effects loop. I've found that running delay and other effects like those in an effects loop apart from overdrives/distortions proves to make both sound better. Also, if you run an effects loop but keep your volume pedal in your chain, swells sound much better because the volume pedal doesn't effect you effects. Of course, all of this comes down to personal preference. My being introduced to an effects loop changed my life haha.

Looks like an AC15TB (Top Boost) from around 1999-2002. I've got one. Play it at pretty much every gig. Upgrading the speaker is a good idea... They come with an Eminence "Bulldog" speaker that sounds pretty good, but nothing like a Celestion Blue or Gold.

@100grapes To be more specific it looks to be a real deal 1972 thinline. The 72 differs from the 69 thinline (with standard tele pickups) with what are called wide range pickups. The alloys used in these pickups are no longer available which is why the original 72's go for thousands. But Novac and Lollar make some great replicas. You can get a thinline re-issue in a Mexi, Japanese or the just released American re-issue. I have a MIJ that is great but hope to upgrade the pickups on.

You either have to tap it crazy fast, or just get a TC electronics nova delay, or the flashback delay, those have a switch, on which you can choose to have quarter notes or 8th notes, when the 8th notes one is chosen, the tap you give will come out as the dotted 8 notes. Hope this helps! :)

@xDyer2394x Go with the Fulldrive 2. It has both Overdrive and Boost, so you can really utilize your Overdrive for a B level kind of gain (not to much, not to little) and the Boost is primarily to boost your volume when it's instrumental time. I plan to get a Fulldrive 2 which completes my ABC gain levels.

i find that an A,B,C,D system is much more effective when it comes to gain and volume effects... being A a clean rythm sound, B a slightly boosted clean lead sound, C a distorted rythm sound and D the main lead sound... this with a worship band... but this system is works best using 2 pedals, one to boost and another to give some gain and then it depends on the mix though you could have 2 boosts and 2 distortions if it helps

Very informative... apart from the "different pickup positions also make a bit of a difference on the sound". Different pickup positions make a MASSIVE difference on the sound! If you want to blend into the mix with swells and atmospheric tones then you definitely want the neck pickup, bridge pickup for anything that needs more definition. If you use the wrong pickup for the wrong part of a song you can so easily find yourself either disappearing into the mix or cutting right through when you're not supposed to. That's one of the most fundamental principles of electric guitar playing, comes well before needing to know about your pedal layout! Otherwise great video :)

(Continued) The Bible does say play skillfully, not play safe. I generally do whatever I feel sounds good, and it usually works. Some slow worship songs sound good with a pinch harmonic here and there, and a drop tuning every now and then. But just have fun, praising God should be fun, even when life sucks, much like the song sometimes, make it fun.
