MOST knifes are made from stainless steel, the melting point of stainless steel is aroud 1400°C. BUT, to get to that point you need special equipment that is worth a lot of money, and most of them use a blow torch, which yes has a temperature of around 1900°C, but there is no way they actually heated up the blade to 1000°C, that could take a couple of hours stainless steel is made with furnaces that have the temperature of 3000°C+. That is probably the only thing that triggers me about this "experiment".
