*Spoilers!!* FIrst, I personally thought the book was so slow and repetitive. Yeah I get why it technically was but it seems inbetween the days the main character went there and the days repeat it felt like it was a filler to an anime. Which I HATE. Like move on to the plot please. Second, the pacing didn't do it for me. First, it was interesting then once he went to the island it got boring and fell flat. (As stated from above.) Then the ending was just meh. It wasn't memorable or anything to All I remember was he went on a ship or a boat and sailed off and that's it. Third, I still think it is weird he is in love with his grandpa's EX. Like What? The book had an interesting plot but I expected something more from the book and something different. Wasn't what I thought it would be. I wouldn't say I hate it but I don't believe the hype of it. I gave it 2 stars. 💁

Mystery Thriller recommendation? I got you Jesse. Here Lies Daniel Tate by Christin Terrill is about a boy posing a another families missing child. It has everything. Family values, murder, violence, romantic elements and more. A great intro to the teen thriller genre. I also recommend The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B. Conney. In this book a teenage girl discovers that she is the missing child on a milk carton. This book is older but it has aged well. 10/10 recommend.

A very captivating series of mystery thriller books are the works of Stieg Larsson, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. There's quite a bit of exposition until halfway through the first book, so you just have to battle through it, but the latter part is chockful of mystery and action, way better. I'm also new to the genre, but that series hooked me. Talking about hooked, yesterday I finished Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor in a day, it was literally glued to my hands!😍 It's so good!

A thriller I really liked is The Broken Girls by Simone St. James. It takes place across two timelines. The first is in the 1950s at a girls boarding school where four room mates get to know each other, become friends, and then one goes missing. The second takes place in 2014 where someone wants to buy the boarding school and a reporter is doing a piece about it. The only reason she's doing this piece, however, is because 20 years earlier her sister's body was found on the school lot and she wants answers. I though this book was really fascinating and I couldn't put it down. On the other hand, it's the only thriller I've ever read so it might be filled with clichés and I just didn't know any better. But I thought it was really good. :)
