I'd love to see a DNFs video. I think it's helpful/valuable information. I DNFd so many books this year and consequently, I read way more books than I ever have (127.. some of those quite chonky.. a love a good long book!) and have 30 new faves! That would not have happened if I stuck with every single book. I am a huge proponent of DNFing! 😅

Agreed - I even sometimes pick up books from worst videos/DNF videos based on the way they're described 😅

@carly1628 lol exactly! sometimes the review will say "I didn't like it because ________ " and I'm like.. that sounds great! 😆 or sometimes they do save me especially on super hyped up ones because they give details that nobody else has (like certain triggers for example).

Quicksilver was like a 4-5 stars for me but there were things in it that pissed me off such as the romance and the ending 😑 but I loved the atmosphere, the side characters and the plot definitely has promise so I’m excited for book 2!

The worst book I read last year was a mystery thiller called Home is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose. For me, it was one of those books that has a pretty basic, if predictable mystery thilller but the ending made me so mad I ended up hating the entire thing.

Loved the video. I would love to see a dnf’s video. The worst book I read was That time I got drunk and saved a demon. The names were too tongue and cheek. The plot was none existent. Needless to say, I’m not reading the rest of them.

Same. Could not understand the hype behind The Tainted Cup. Bride was a big let down for me as well, especially as my first Ali H book. Fate Inked in Blood started off strong but ended in such a predictable typical romantasy way. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts on this.

I felt similar about the foxglove king. I enjoyed it, but I was still disappointed a little. I wanted so much more from but I had fun with it. Also a dnf video would be great 😊

I would like a dnfs video! I think all my worst books of the year fall more into the disappointment category. First was Julie Andrews second memoir "Homework". I love Julie Andrews but it was a case of I maybe shouldn't have gotten to know more about my heroes if you know what I mean. Second was Venco. The story is so promising. I wanted to support the Metis author and the Canadian hardcover edition was stunning. Unfortunately, every character was so underdeveloped. Honestly it should have been a series - maybe one centred on each witchy character that was built to the climax in a final book. I would have been more invested in their relationships and success in the battle. So really sad about that one. Last was Kingdom of the Wicked. I loved how it started! Then it went downhill and I finished it just to finish it. I really wanted to read Throne of the Fallen. I read a plot summary of the series and still didn't have any desire to continue the series and I'm a completionist, so it was really hard for me to DNF the series. Thankfully, I still tried Throne of the Fallen because I loved it! I'm really looking forward to Throne of Secrets. Maybe I'll be able to go back one day and read the YA series - but then again, maybe not 😅

I very rarely give one star reviews. For that, a book must trully be atricious. Last year, out of 222 books I read, only 6 were below 2 stars, and only 4 of those were stright-up 1 stars with no redeeming qualities: one short nothing novella (atrocious writing, no character developement, no plot, the most basic worldbuilding you've ever seen, and better to be forgotten), A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft (which wasn't even a reapropriated fanfic but basicaly plagiarism, so one star on principle), one random nonfiction (which spread medical misinformation so gross I'm afraid to even mention it here by name), and Quicksilver. Boy, did I hate Quicksilver... The worst part was the missalignment of the supposedly hot/romantic things that were happening with the language used to describe it and the main character's bodily reactions - which were basically trauma responses. I have aphantasia (no visual inner eye), so I imagine "with my body", and every "hot" scene in that book made me vaguelly nauseous. Not great when you're reading a smutty romance book...

Hope it was cathartic to let out all that negative energy, you are one of the most amusing ranters out there imo hahaha 🤣❤ I am SO with you on The Tainted Cup. And can't blame you for hating Quicksilver so much, I really can't defend it in any type of way lol. " For me, A Dark and Drowning Tide by Alison Saft and The Atlas Complex by Olivie Blake were quite disappointing, just so much missed potential :(

😂 I actually don’t like making videos about books I don’t like 🙈 it somehow feels like a waste of energy but I know it can be helpful and part of the reviewing process !
sequels that made the series go downhill 👎🏻
