I feel you guys, i myself was a victim of Milton too, it's been a long road back, with no help from FEMA, got denied for everything. Stay strong

Sending big prayers from Canada. We plan on moving to Florida next summer but this does not scare us but definitely has opened our eyes to the reality of Florida.

My daughter’s house in South Tampa was flooded. My wife and I were visiting when hurricane Helene went through. There was water in about 80% of their house and both their vehicles got totaled. Ours was spared. My concern for my daughter and her family is that insurance(which is through fema) won’t cover the costs. They had flood insurance. Best wishes on recovery of your home.

I know you don't want to hear this Juan but we need one of those colder then normal winters in Tampa this year. I despise the cold but a couple of real solid frosts would really cut back our bugs and more importantly cool that gulf down. We do get those winters every now and then but we really need it this year. Blessings to you and your family!

When you’re impacting your life is changed. Every year the US deals with massive devastation. Fortunately most of us don’t have to deal with these things. Insurance companies do have coverage in areas of disaster and those costs definitely impact their profits. I would bet these are offset by the majority who have no claims! I have had insurance for over 50 years and have never had a homeowner claim. I doubt that I am the exception! I think our government has allowed these companies far too much leeway with regard to their charging, paying off claims and making profits. Insurance companies should not be any different than any other business. They should not be guaranteed a profit.
