It's amazingly sad how I was able to predict he was gonna talk about Jennette McCurdy the moment he said "child actors and abusive parents." No but seriously as someone with a narcissistic mom….the title of her book is my life. Before it came out I always said I wish my mom would just die, I still do…. and i feel horrible saying it but my life would be easier without her in it making me feel like trash only coming around to manipulate me for her benefit. So when I heard “I’m glad my mom died.” It made me feel so much less shame about wishing my alive mom would just fucking die already. So I can stop living in the past, because it’s ROUGH. You’re supposed to go no contact with abusive NPD parents but in some cases that’s impossible.

I feel the same... as a child i had thoughts like "i'll just wait til he dies and then i can finally be free" i know now that i couldn't just wait for that to happen, but when it does, i won't feel anything. Some seem to expect a person to somehow be whole after a parent psychologically destroys them for years. About Jenette McCurdy. Hearing how she speaks and how she carries herself now, and hearing about her past trauma and what she endured...I'm in awe. Seriously. She's clearly so talented with writing, it comes through clearly with every word. I'm definitely going to order it, after hearing her speak I'd pay $50 dollars for a paperback How bleak and toxic Hollywood is...to endure that as a child simply isn't acceptable. If that means I never see another kid in a movie or TV show, well so be it, because it is not okay for that to happen to a child, even if 9000 kids out of 9001 and love acting and would do it again, it's still not okay for that one child to have such a horrific experience. A stolen childhood. Of course, her mother is part of it--but what about all the adults that just go along with it for the sake of a kid's show? Well, for the sake of money, clearly it's not about creating joy for children, it's about filling the pockets of adults with the unwilling labor of children. end rant EDIT: **people being upset about the title of a book is just...ugh. Can we get anymore whiny, collectively, as a society?

It sounds harsh but I understand where Jeanette is coming from up to a certain point. Had a family member that passed away that I honestly did not get upset about. It's scary at first to react with such indifference, but looking back on everything she's done it all makes sense. She ruined her own kid's lives and spread so much unnecessary drama that caused people to hate each other. When she died, people reached out to each other and eventually found out that she was the cause of all the lies and drama, and worse, the cause of my parent's divorce when I was barely even a month old. It just goes to show that you can still feel happiness and relief, or even straight up indifference when someone who caused you nothing but pain and stress passes away, even if they're family.
