Fun fact - while making an open world MMO (some years ago, never released sadly) our dev team was changing something with the engine and had to run every model in the game through a script. to identify models that the script missed, we set the "wrong model" to be replaced by a bright pink Utah Teapot and then run the game. To this day I regret I havent made any screenshots, cause the post-apocalyptic wasteland peppered with pink teapots in all sizes and positions was absolutely hysterical.

From my experience on working on a sound engine in the past, these loud noises right after loading might be related to the game trying to play a sound cue at a specific position in the world, without knowing the position of the player (the sound engine hasn't caught up yet). In this case, the engine does not know how loud it should play this sound, so it just defaults to 100% volume, blasting sound directly to your ears.

2:57 Heroic Strike on Warrior in WoW Classic... The worst ability in the game, especially because it manages to convince you it's worth using, but it's not. Every auto attack generates Rage, your main resource, but heroic strike empowers your next meele hit with some damage. Doesn't sound too bad, but then you realize that the ability COSTS rage and prevents the empowered meele attack from generating any , meaning it technically costs more than it states and you're better off doing literally anything else.

biggest noob trap ability off this class for sure, especially as a tank. you are literally better off going into def stance, using shield block and use revenge, ones you have blocked an attack. I think the loud sounds are because, when making a game in an engine like unity, you place audio players (source) in the world. These audio players can be made to play sound within distance, or global. What i think happened is that they put every audio player (source) at global position 0, 0, 0. You when spawning in are also placed at 0, 0, 0 and because you are so close to the audio player, the sounds are really loud. your position is then loaded and you are teleported to the location that was saved on the server.

I remember playing Regnum Online back in ... 2007? The graphics and combat mechanics doesn't look like it's changed since. Physics hitbox were so terrible you'd occasionally get stuck and need to click on the "Die" button to respawn. It was fun back then because the only other MMO I knew was WoW which I couldn't afford. Also yes, it was one of the very few MMOs playable on Linux back then. Until Steam Proton came out I would dual-boot Windows and Linux because options used to be quite limited. Everyone was really friendly there and the Realm vs Realm mechanics was amazing. It was basically base capture which eventually unlocks the gates to the enemy's inner realm, where it turns into a capture the flag sort of game. That meant coordination and different guilds would hold different forts. Or you could join the mindless zerg mass that oftentimes form and overrun a fort. And then because it was three realms you could cooperate with the third realm only to backstab them (or be backstabed). But eventually with the level grind and discovering better games I moved on to greener pastures. Surprised it's still running, although all those technical issues is a sign it isn't quite running. PS if I recall correctly those white stone pillars with blue flames you've walked past a few times are respawn points you can attune to so you don't need to walk all the way from the start. It's probably a tutorial fault!

@AngDavies3 жыл бұрын
@@Nirual86 the autoattacks being faster would probably make this system feel worse . Having abilities that are next autoattack is fine, having abilities that are global cooldown is also fine. Having abilities that are both simultaneously is the problem here- use an ability- have to wait for global cooldown to use the next one...but by the time that's up, I've already taken a swing and have missed my opportunity and have to wait again for my swing timer to reset, so you can only use an ability every second swing which feels slow as molasses. Those abilities are already balanced around the fact that they can only be done once per swing, putting them on the global cooldown as well is silly.

@keoniskylines57073 жыл бұрын
Oh my god, thank you so much for this video! I have been waiting so long to see my first MMO ever on this channel. I started playing in its early stage back in 2007 up until about 4 or 5 years ago (with long breaks). Regnum Online was owned by Gamigo in Europe, so no wonder it didn't get any better - we had to wait months for bugfixes and barely any new content was added over the years. There were two major "expansions", Warmasters and Champions of Regnum. The novelties included updated graphics and world (in 2010 or so), level cap raised from 50 to 60, some new armor sets for level 60, here and there some new mounts (mostly cash shop) and PvP battlegrounds that nobody played because it destroyed the game's sole purpose: the RvR combat in the center of the world map. The game is a single frustrating grind and the leveling is the worst I have ever experienced. Why did I play this game for so long? Because of my friends that played this game, the clan we joined and had heaps of fun with and the genuine RvR fights for glory, but definitely not for its well designed gameplay. Looking back, I almost feel bad for enjoying Regnum, but it was the first MMO I played and I thought this was the norm. To the people thinking about playing this game: Don't do it! Let it die. If you're into RvR, play Elder Scrolls Online. It has RvR like Regnum, but 1000% better.

You described my same exact experience, played from beta till Warmasters, they way they literally made everyone grind from 50 to 60 without even a quest and then introduced the 500% exp boost was a slap in the face, specially since you needed more exp from 50 to 60 than from 1 to 50 LMAO That expansion literally killed the game everyone in my clan stopped playing I had no reason to log in any more.

Apologies for the necropost, kinda been scrolling through your content and watching more recently. I actually have a bit of history with this game, much to my chagrin. I played this game mostly about 10 to 13 years ago, gave it a good run when it was "Regnum Online" and even for awhile when it introduced forced rest times, increased the grind, and introduced the "champion" levels system. While I don't wholly regret it, I do regret a number of things that happened later. They actually took and implemented one of my ideas/constructive criticisms to improve the game play, more or less, which was inspired by DAoC, which I played through most of my college years. The idea that you had to capture and maintain 2 of the 3 enemy keeps to unlock the ability to raid the main castle and recover the relic, then haul the relic back to your own realm's castle. The so-called "Relic Raids" For good or for worse, they implemented my idea a little after changing from "Regnum Online" to "Champions of Regnum". Back in 2010 or 2011, I was still very much into the idea of 3v3 world versus world games akin to Dark Age of Camelot. And Regnum at that time, was one of the closer things to that gameplay that I liked. Only, missing a lot of content, and involving a much, much, much, much smaller land mass. So I was kinda into it, and it was something to do. So, shortly after they implemented my DAoC inspired relic raid idea, I was then permanently banned me from the forums for mentioning a different game in the off topic section (I brought up Star Citizen). They claimed violation of ToS, and it was a perma-ban on my first offense, I never even received warnings from the mods, and I wasn't the type to stir up trouble. To this day I am still bitter about that nonsense, especially when other players also mentioned other games, some even within the fantasy MMO category, without so much as a warning. I mentioned a space sim that wasn't even an MMO yet. Several players vouched for me, and got in touch with the head mod, but they were basically "yeah no." I could still play the game, could still interact with friends, didn't get flack from anyone in the chat. But for whatever reason, they permabanned me for mentioning an obscure in-development barely alpha game in development. And so I left, and didn't really look back. In hind sight, maybe it's for the best as the whole project kinda became a bit of a shit show and they did have some internal issues they were dealing with to keep the whole thing barely floating while also trying to grow and train new dev team members to keep the thing from burning to the ground. Maybe they were scared of me and my potential for damaging the game's reputation by launching a number of constructive criticisms. Maybe I had more put together comments and constructive arguments than I realized. Don't know. Don't really want to know. Maybe they had too much hubris and didn't want to admit to implementing one of my design ideas/taking and implementing an idea from a player. Though, in fairness, at that time back in the 2010's it was the only MMO, and one of the only larger non-mobile games out of/in Argentina. They didn't really have a thriving game dev industry. Also, I do know a lot of issues internally with their small team happened after their lead engineer left the team, and they were basically doing everything they could to keep the whole project from going belly up as they had to train new devs/coders and only the previous lead guy ever truly fully understood the systems they had developed. Pretty rough stuff. I can kinda understand what they were going through, but I won't defend them. Take the game at face value, because that's really all there is to it.

@guillermopena84123 жыл бұрын
This was my very first MMO. I played it with my friends back in 2007 when it was just Regnum and was mostly in Spanish. The game is a grindfest. It is a PvP centric game, the reason why people give praise to the Realm vs Realm aspect is because that's the main gameplay and because it's a poor man's World vs World from Guild Wars 2. But the PvE is mega lacking. It's a grind fest that has you resting every 3 fights or less the higher level you are. Eventually the quests stop and you are stock grinding levels until eventually you out level everything in the PvE area and have to grind in the PvP zone. A lot of things seem to have changed. For starters, there use to be no quest to go do PvP at low level. In fact, you only got a quest to do PvP at level 30, which was to go kill players and was the only quest you could get, but at least you were not asked to do this at the beginning of the game. Also, you used to be able to distribute your statsbupon leveling, it wasn't automatic, and you could enter a command to reset your stats and skill points. The game is also mega unbalanced. Archer classes used to have to buy arrows, meaning that Archers had an inherent disadvantage to all other classes, and since they couldn't get any other weapon, running out of arrows meant you couldn't attack. Mages however had almost the same range as Archers but without the limits of arrows. The game did have World Bosses. Each Realm had 1 world boss and there was another at the RvR area. Only a couple of the players who helped kill it got any loot, most people would get nothing from killing them. Loot also scaled with your character's level, meaning that if had a mid level character and got lucky enough to get loot from the world boss, congrats, you got mid level gear that is worse than things you can buy from vendors. Not to mention that arrows are also possible loot, you could get special magic arrows that did almost nothing different, but only 5 arrows from getting lucky at a world boss. The Realm vs Realm system used to shine with the Invasions system. Basically, each Realm had 3 gems, if a Realm conquered most of the castles in the RvR zone and held them for hours, the other Realms would be vulnerable. When vulnerable, the Realms could get their borders attacked and players from another Realm could invade, this was the only way to play in another Realm's map. The goal of an Invasion was to find and steal as many of the Realm's gems as possible. If a Realm managed to get all gems, they could take them to a shrine in their own Realm and summon a golden dragon that would grant the entire Realm some sort of boost, choices where between xp and gold boosts. Once the boost is claimed, the gems go back to their respective Realms. That all sounds cool, if not for the fact combat is tedious, leveling is a pain in the ass, everything is pay to win and could even feel pay to progress at times. It used to have a good community back in the day, but it seems that had ended. Oh well, I still have some good memories of it but mostly because of the people I played it with.

@@madelaki LMAO when I still played virtually EVERYONE decked out with epic and legendary gear (myself included) acquired our gear through luck boxes. Sure you could also do it without paying. However, you would have a 0.001% chance of ever acquiring such gear over the course of your entire time playing the game compared to just forking out some cash to get it by buying (loads of) diamond lucky boxes, and even then it is not guaranteed that you will drop epic, let alone legendary gear. In fact, I do not know a SINGLE top-tier player who has ever gotten all of their stuff without ever buying lucky boxes at some point. And dropping 7+ AS, 15+ damage elem gems etc. without paying is pretty much unheard of. The crafter items are a joke btw. NGD’s financial situation is pretty bad, which is reflected by the fact that all but its RA server have been shut down over the past years as it has been losing large numbers of players (mainly vets such as myself, but also new players who are unwilling to do the insane grind without buying Ximerin XP scrolls). Without Ximboys buying luck boxes, the company would not survive. It is the CORNERSTONE of their business model, and pretty much has been after they raised the level cap to 60. You appear to be the one who is out of touch with reality here, or you are just deliberately trying to mislead people … I am a veteran of the game who sadly played for over 10 years (on and off during the last 3 because of school and work) and I have seen it all. Hell, at the time I’d even been lucky enough to defeat the best player of all time on my server (Yalariom) in a 1v1, and he was donning an OP dragon amulet (another broken item btw) while I wasn’t. And I am not even, and never have been that special, so I can only imagine that there were way bigger spenders than me around wielding even bigger sticks than me. What have you accomplished as a player of RO/COR?

WOAH!! Regnum!! who would've thought... I remember this game... This is the first mmo i have ever played just before i could afford a WoW subscription back in 2008-9 and for that reason I have some feelings and nostalgia for this game... I met so many cool people and was fun...Havent touched it since then, I remember having tons of fun and liking everything about it... But the p2w in this game is atrocious and even back then i remember being really bad you can't literally do anything without paying ANYTHING and also i remeber running out of quests and having to grind mobs for like 20+lvl very VERY slowly, also with this review i can see it didnt age up well at all, seems way buggier and ugly then i remember... well... it is what it is i think...

I did not even know there was a digimon mmo it would have been gigantic if it came out in 1999/2000 (ok maybe not since not everyone had internet yet) but it came out in 2009 apparently
