As a person who used to play Nodiatis... The only true MMO parts are the pvp and end game grinding however the main reason why this game absolutely needs to be an MMO is because the grind is ungodly and if it were to be a single player you would just stop at the very early game (after 6 or 12 hours) because there's no reason why would you want to grind so much for some minor silly plot advances or new enemies. And to answer "why this game has to be so grindy", this game just wouldn't be itself without the grind. It feels like a basic foundational of its design tbh.

The creator of this game promised a game called "Dawn" back in the day were he, this is not verbatim, scammed people for money for a promise of the most open MMO ever (Never happened). Later on this game came to be. There is many things to note about the owner of this game, and a big one that Josh doesn't know is that, Jeff breaks his own T&Cs and abuses his powers. Good example is, in this video a player gives Josh stuff, this is bannable, as Jeff doesn't want new players to get free things since he wants their money. Jeff ofcourse won't ban Kittehas it's an act of kindness and "he's gotta look good for all those thousands of new players", instead he brings out another "Patch" to prevent it from happening The games integrity is gone. Only after this video came out and all these "thousands of new players" signed up has he made account sharing bannable, when I personally brought this issue up with him more than once and others have too. Never did he care; still doesn't.

I honestly expected it to be even worse the other appears here as there are some easy solutions to a few of the issues that came up here, and they were genuinely pleasant surprises. I don’t post or say this out of spite, mind. I’m genuinely thankful. I was sort of entertaining running this in the background for the passive gain for a few weeks until I saw a comment that said my character will be deleted if I'm not on for three months. As someone who binge plays a game and then doesn't play for months or possibly years before looping back, this is very unappealing. I understand why they're doing it, but knowing I have to log in at set intervals or lose all progression is low key stressful. If I wanted stress I'd just return to my physical life, I play games for fun. EDIT: I also think this game sounds a lot better when being described because I like complex systems. This video is 8 hours cut down to 30 minutes of gameplay. It would be a mistake to try this... or would it? But no, I know I'm going to be bored very soon, I really don't like grinding... but what if? No, this is the road to madness. I'm talking myself into this. I'm not doing it. *Insert gif of that woman trying Kombucha for the first time*

I've been playing nodiatis since 2008, it is a game that is very relaxing to just "grind". It is also a game that takes a long time to become an elitest, i'd say there are less than 5 people that are truly capped at end game. For most people this is a game where you should focus on your own gains, and not compare vs other players who have been playing for 10+ years. I myself am still 2-3 years from being capped. If you want to be competitive as a new player expect to spend a lot of money. If you're looking to do it my way with a lot of patience, after you get to the softcap of lvl 85 and can grind out enough gold ever 10 days to buy a time card to maintain premium status you can play for free. I myself spent a lot in the past, but for the past 8 years haven't spent anything. The skill system is very in depth, and the end game legendary weapons/armor/classes make it so you can do all sorts of interesting builds. So if you like theory crafting, and are patient this is a great game. If you are impatient it will feel like garbage. (PS. In combat if you want to see your gem description hold shift and hover over) EDIT: Also for you new players that are going to just start the game, Lvl up slashing skill to 2, get the Rare grass sword from the general store, then lvl up armor class to 3 and get a full set of woven silk armor. With your spirit trophies get some levels into sorcery 5-10 and then get some white and green magic, so that you can buy some heal gems. Blessed Healing, (white magic) from the petshop and Gaia's blessing (green magic) from the Inn are what i recommend. Should allow you to get to lvl 10ish Good Luck and Have Fun

I remembered the name of this game and that I played it. I also remembered that it had a lot that I should have liked but didn't play it for long. I remember why now.. that UI is so painful, especially when you have to do repetitive actions just to progress to any small degree in anything. I still play Eye of the Beholder, Dungeon Master, Amberstar, and other classic dungeon crawler RPGs and really don't have an issue with any of them. I even played Dark Swords for quite a few hours on Steam. Khan and Florensia I do remember. I stuck with Florensia a bit longer because of the promise of sailing. Hopefully Dark Swords is on your list. It's another inspired-by-classics MMO. Be ready to edit, though. It uses multiple separate windows for holding information.

You also got to remember, this was NOT meant to be a high end MMO, and its from 2008, so it has some age. And ill tell you right off the bat, you WILL NOT max out a character within a month without it being absolute trash and this is a grind fest style of a game. I still play it from time to time now too still, even after 13 years, and with having 5 characters at soft cap 85 and 2 at hard cap of 90 (getting from 85-90 can take year or more (unless you had a huge amount of Timecards) because of how little of exp you get, you lose like 90% exp gain or something like that. Only truly hardcore players like I was did it all the way to 90) And for your character class, there is a main learning curve of what to level and what not to level up in. You can also click on the speaker and note icons, to change sounds to on or off or in-between. To those that want to play, the moment your able to right click the screen and bring up the menu, TURN OFF the stat cycling, it will help and allow you to choose between what stat you want to focus on yourself. As for getting trophies, you will eventually over time, and hard work, (or a bit of money), can upgrade your account, which will allow you to spend your daily time faster and thus getting more of the drops as a result. Correction, you do not have to kill all the bosses, the only boss that is required is the dock and troll bridge. Majority of the rest are not required to be killed, but some are a MUST because they will drop special travel gear in order to help you progress along. As for the Gems and Weapons etc. in a shop, they are based on character level/Tier/Rank level, and the ones as the very bottom/next page, are items membership players have sold to the store. As for the reason why say Grass Sword is lvl2 and the next is lvl14, is because you need to go to another town that is based closer to that level to get to that next sword, but there are only so many towns, so they have higher level items there as well for you to travel back to, thus leveling your traveling and such. And as to 14k hours, I have put in at least triple that, I would prove it if I could, but this game only game to Steam recently, I use to play it by webpage and then download. As to not being able to open a chest more then once in a 15 second time span was due to late game boss killing where you could make an absurd amount of gold, which lead to botting, to correct that, they made it where you can only open one every 15 seconds. Oh awesome, Kitty to the rescue, she is an old time player too. Always willing to help others as well. (and those time cards are IRL cash based, but can be sold in game for over 1.4mil? I know its something like that, last I seen was 1.2mil each.) You wanna try to use your whole stack of trophies, double click to lift the whole stack and it will drop all that your able to at the skill level you have it at. Any other question, feel free to ask, and ill answer them to the best I can.

That is crazy, I used to think Runescape, Everquest and WoW felt grindy back in the early 2000's but this from the late 2000's puts them to shame. The gameplay and story is literally grinding as the mechanic, I've never seen a game value their players time as little as this game does.
@Thorinox2 жыл бұрын
@@Jrock420blam Some people like me found it worth the challenge though, a few people I know, went beyond anyone and maxed out there passive time on every single skill by booning, booning is where you start your character all over but the total amount of exp will give you the chance to fix or make your character better, faster. A lot of people will grind out all the useless skills to their character level to build up as much exp as possible till they had an average of 10-15 million total and restart to get a good new start.
@Jrock420blam2 жыл бұрын
@@Thorinox It's certainly interesting to challenge oneself to see how long they can stand grinding in a game. When talking challenge usually one thinks about difficulty like Dark Souls or speed running, using weaker weapons etc it take a certain type of person to find a challenge in how long they can stomach a game that doesn't have anything to provide other than grinding and I am glad there is something to provide people with a game they like even if I can't understand. What makes games like Nodiatis particularly bad IMO is the fact there is nothing past the grind but more grind. Most grind games have some sort of lore, story, character interaction etc even if it's not masterfully written there is at least an attempt. I feel like 14 years is enough time to add some sort of lore or story or interaction.
@Thorinox2 жыл бұрын
@@Jrock420blam That I do agree with the lore and when it comes to the grind, it's about the late game, eventually you could grind on mobs that are up to level 140 and you being 85 if you want or go for the gold at 90.

I checked my old email to find out just how long ago I had made an account there and it turned out to be...11 years ago. Damn...I was one of those players Josh described who played this game for just a day or two and never came back. Yet it somewhow still managed to stick in my memory after all this time.

Darn, I was almost certain it was going to be 'It loaded'/10 That poor princess! I wonder if anyone has managed to save her yet How about a "Worst MMO ever! After Dark" Featuring Scarlet Blade? If it still exists that is.

Not really equivalent. I was level 48 when Kunark dropped (was 50 but....PoFear raid) and it wasn't that bad. Not nearly as bad as some of the EQ clones tried to be. And nowhere near as bad as this game seems to be, with its conflicting systems. The big thing with EQ at that time was risk aversion. If you knew you'd lose a week's worth of XP from dying, the key focus at that point is: DON'T DIE. Outside of raids, I didn't die once between 41 and 57. Explore? Pfft, do that when you're max level and FULL into max level. 😜

@@Remianen Dude. Low and mid level quests were meaningless in EQ1 for xp. You didn't get a starter bag. You grinded 99% of the time when you weren't raiding or working on your Epic quest line. All meaningful gear was player made and the EC tunnel was brutal on prices most of the time. The "hell levels" that everyone believed was a glitch but EQ said "working as intended" ended up being a glitch. Humans were night blind and had to carry a wisp globe. It took 6 hours of real world time to hoof it from Qeynos to Freeport without a port. Naked corpse runs to retrieve your body. EQ1 was brutal and I loved it.

@@swordmonkey6635 If only more developers and players would realize a lot of the genius design in the original EQ... we would have good MMOs and RPGs... and MMORPGS.

If I ever made an RPG the first quest would be "Find 99 Chicken's Teeth"

One thing that wasn't mentioned, and I have no idea if this changed at all, is a little key info about "Unpaid Accounts". There was once a time when you would get incentivized into logging on or spending money in the worst way possible: you would be told your character would get deleted if you didn't log in within a certain amount of time, this could be avoided by spending money on a Time Card at least once iirc. That's right, spend money to make sure your account stays around and isn't lost forever. It's a good game if you can get into it, just be careful as the monetization is a bit more than slightly predatory imo.
