As someone who was an early teen when fnaf came out I was absolutely terrified of it and the lore so imagine my surprise when my child brother would constantly play pretend with his figures as if they were the fnaf characters and still to this day has a giant collection of the action figures and plushies, it's so weird seeing actual horror games be marketed to kids so I can't even imagine what it's like now or what it'll be like when the circle inevitably loops again in a few years

For FNAF it works though. While there r some horror themed FNAF merch, there’s also merch that feels like it would be sold in universe and I think that’s what works about selling merchandise of these games. Poppy Playtime had the biggest and quickest downfall of any game. First the NFT's, then ALL of the EnchantedMob drama and even the movie...The fact that I was genuinely excited for this seems unbelievable.
@maland20162 жыл бұрын
The fact that they pushed for a movie _this_ quickly is... just a bit off. Even FNAF, whose movie was (so Wikipedia tells me) announced all the way back in 2015, still had at least 2 to 3 games already out by that time, so there was plenty of already existing material to cover if needed. I don't even think it's been a _year_ since Poppy first came out, and already they're pushing for a movie, and their game's story (seeing as the movie's likely an adaptation) is *_NOWHERE NEAR DONE,_* meaning this movie won't even come out for a good few years at least, so _what_ was the rush to start a movie when your game isn't even done?
@Xendrick2 жыл бұрын
@@maland2016 The main difference between FNAF and PPlaytime is that, Scott had rejected so many scripts because he really cares for his franchise and wants the movie to actually feel like the games Now we have Mob who REALLY wants to push a movie out even though they only released the 1st chapter, which feels like a demo than an actual full game, and the 2nd chapter isn't even out yet

Honestly this is a little disturbing, especially since there are some legitimate concerns to this game but they chose the most surface level, almost non existent issues. This just makes me wonder- if journalists can be so misinformed about a video game that would only take one simple thirty minute play through to watch, how can we trust any other claims they make? ANYONE who has either played the game, watched a playthrough, or even simply seen the final chase sequence knows none of that information is accurate. Them messing up the title of the game alone is a huge red flag. This is the easiest story to write on, yet they clearly did no research whatsoever. It just makes me wonder.

Rise and shine mr Freeman. Better late than never, huh? The media has been like this since early 2000s right when the internet started to push them out from the scene. Because of this they decided that the best course of action is to paint their own targets and make up their own villains, because otherwise they will be perpetually late to the scene. Hence the constant drama, overinflated stories and narratives e t c. But the journalism in mass media died even before that - somewhere on the border of 1980s and 1990s. Trusting mass media is always wrong. The best course of action is to do analysis by yourself. Yeah, time-consuming, but you won't get near the truth otherwise.

News segments like these actually feel malicious. A random parent-run website is not going to be the expert on a horror video game, and I can't believe "journalists" don't even bother to do bare minimum research. They even said the wrong name for the game, that's just lazy. It takes almost no effort to either play through the VERY short game, watch a playthrough, or clip breakdowns and find the age ratings, see if there are content warnings etc. The outcry at the original mortal kombat made sense - we didn't have age ratings on videos back then and the controversy those games sparked led to the ESRB rating games and the creation of PEGI. Although Poppy's playtime has no rating by the ESRB yet, app stores have already given it a 12+ or Teen rating, and on steam it very obviously says "horror" and "dark" and the description is "you must stay alive in this horror/puzzle adventure. Try to survive the vengeful toys waiting for you in the abandoned factory." The game is explicit about it being a horror, the trailers also show this so it really comes down to parents being negligent of their children's online presence - why is anyone younger than 13 on TikTok to see clips anyways? It reminds me of outrage over Doki Doki Literature club, despite the tags including the fact it was a horror and the game opening with content warnings...

Okay, I know no one will read this but I'd like to add on to some points: Now, the interviewer who was stating that Huggy Wuggy would sing songs and hug children is SO wrong. I was literally facepalming when I heard this. This lady clearly hasn't educated herself enough and started rambling on the spot and was probably paid to say this for her little site. Huggy Wuggy is an enemy you face in the game so far and the only way to escape the creature is to climb inside the vents or whatever they're called and find shortcuts, Huggy does NOT sing any songs to you it just chases you near the end of the game which adds tension. That's one point, another is that this lady is clearly trying to make the game look bad. If children really stumbled upon this game then what's the worst that could happen? They go and sleep in their parents bed and then get over it after a few days. It's like scraping your knee. You get a little bit of pain but then you're basically over it. Fear is what makes us stronger. Children shouldn't be sheltered all their life since it doesn't give them a chance to explore and have their own personal opinion. This entire interview is obviously a staged scene which is opinion based and very non-factual. Yes, I feel very strongly when people don't have the facts and just blurt out random things without thinking nor having played the game themselves to experience it. It's just embarrassing for everyone. The speaker, the listener and most importantly the audience who choose to listen to this gibberish. My other point is that there have been way worse games that have been produced in the gaming communities but not a single karen mother in her late 40s has chosen to pick on it. They choose to pick on a game that is not nearly as scary. Now, Poppy Playtime has done a few questionable things, like take part in possible movies, make NFTs, merch etc. in order to make their game and brand known so of course there's going to be haters and there's also going to be supporters. I believe that there are more supporters than haters because the supporters have at least two braincells to put together and realise how this game is solely created for enjoyment and not meant to threaten anyone. It's crazy to think that someone would go to such crazy measures to make it on to the news and start talking about their said experience about this game. At the beginning of the news report you can see an irrelevant image stating how this is the one and only 'Huggy Wuggy game'. In big bold letters you can see 'GRANNY' on the bottom right of the image, it comes to show how these 'reporters' haven't done their research and are just using their evidence based on an offbrand game that is clearly fan made. It's not hard to search for 'Poppy Playtime' and find a compelling image that will maybe go in your favour, but no, they couldn't even do something that simple. Anyway thats my opinion, I don't usually post things but this really got me mad so to get over it I decided to write a little rant, Thank you for reading.

I haven't played the game but seen at least a few playthroughs since the game is like 2 minutes long, but it's nice to see these attention seeking "protect the children" orgs are still doing the same shit of just making up things on the spot, the tall cookie monster in the game is not hugging and whispering into the player's ears to steal from the cookie jar or something, and most likely kids aren't on the playground copying something that doesn't happen, they can say whatever they want to blow things out of proportions because they're speaking on behalf of kids who can't talk back, and the message is for parents who are not told "do your research about this stuff" instead it's "prohibit your child to come near this" with all the weird fear mongering that the game has some other motives other than being entertainment I seen wuggy plushies where i live on toy store windows, with the sharp teeth and all, kids aren't traumatized by this stuff, they're just intrigued by something more out of the norm

3:43 you're not sure if this is true or not, and it ISN'T, because no, the news got it wrong again, Huggy Wuggy isn't going around singing songs or whatever, that is another controversy where a youtuber made a Poppy Playtime song (age restricted btw, not on the YT Kids app) and the children still found it. So not only did their parents not restrict their kids' internet access (with a YT Kids app), they also got so many things about the actual game wrong their judgement is very skewed, and the news just picked up the story for the views and the clicks as they always do. The game sucks (they did NFTs lol) but so do the parents who don't pay enough attention to their kids' safety and then go around blaming everyone but themselves, without doing any actual research on what the thing theyre so afraid of actually is.
