You can make an argument that grouping up vast swathes of people that look a certain way (ie. tattoos etc.) and having 100+ defendants under the same criminal complaint all represented by the same lawyer is a violation of their human rights. But I don’t think you can say it isn’t at least safer.

My family almost die in the 80's when the civil war, was in El salvador. I leave in the time when we woke up with shooting and seeing dead bodies everyday. I will always thank my Grandma from bridging us to the USA, and gave us a better life.

Easy. El Salvador prison isn’t run for profit. Their main incentive is to lock up gang bangers. American prison/justice system runs on profit incentive. Every step of the way to prison is design to generate revenue. It uses business strategies like cost cutting, lean administration all in the name of maximizing profit(not saving tax dollars)

One of those lowlives threatened my niece when she was 10 years old. My cousin used to walk her to school and he would follow them telling her that she's his future mother in law and to take care of what's his. It was disgusting! This is actually how it supposed to be, so those criminals will think twice/three/four times before even thinking to do a crime. For human rights, it explains itself, you have to be human to have rights.

I applaud Bukele for transforming El Salvador, and for liberating its people from the horrific oppression the gangs were inflicting on them. What I don't agree with is with is the treatment of prisoners. Keeping the lights on 24/7, having them sleep on metal beds without mattress, a pillow, or a blanket, and making 80 people share one single toilet, are measures that are nothing short of torture,
