Worst Oil Filter Design! | B&C Oil Filter Upgrade!

The oil filter mesh thing was part of the O-320 original design back in 1961. We can do better than that for the Red Rocket! In this video we install a spin on oil filter adapter from B and C Specialty Products. It's a beautiful piece of metal that does EXACTLY what I need it to do AND fit in a really tight space. Granted, we ran into a lot of road blocks getting it installed, but in the end the effort was worth it!

Hey Carl, you should put just a little oil on the gasket/o-ring of the oil filter so that you will be able to get it off easier when it is time to change the filter. Great update, can’t wait to see the first start of the engine. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the advice! I'll for sure be doing that. I do it on all my cars after struggling to get some off in the past. I remember having to put a screw driver through one to get enough leverage.

On the Champion oil filter you use Dow Corning DC-04. On Tempest filters you leave dry with no lubricant of any kind used

I know safety wire is a necessary evil, however that doesn't diminish it being a pain in the butt. I really really dislike safety wire, it always manages to be in a highly inaccessible location. Great video Carl.

Yea, I had to have my mechanic come show me how to do it right. Still don't think I'm 100% with it, but it'll work. There are some places I see it through and I'm questioning how I'm going to get to it...

YES! I didn't want to secure it until I get that oil line done. There are 2 points on the adapter to safety wire it to.
