it hasn't expanded at all, in fact they closed off a huge part of it and sold out the campgrounds so you cant even enter through that part anymore forcing you to pay to enter and extra for parking or walk even farther, closed down rides, sanitation in the pools is at all time lows, garbage all over, discriminate marijuana use, but allow alcohol and cigarettes, removed giant ship in hook lagoon past 4 years now, oh and its cashless now, sure you can exchange for a card at a machine, but that forces you to either use all that money or it goes to them, oh an you top that off with nobody wanting to work and everything is deserted, food stands, games
@adamhout42713 ай бұрын
Exactly. They haven't done much of anything with it at all. In fact, they have removed a lot of things that I loved. The Twister was one of my favorite rides there. That's gone. The Grizzly Run gone, the old batting cages are just sitting there rotting. It took like 20 years for a new Rollercoaster to finally come with the Tantrum. Half the park is always closed every time you go now. There's just no expansion or nothing new at all. The park has been bland for so long. I still go there because it's the closest park to me. But Cedar Point puts this park to shame

This park is not bad whatsoever, I have season passes as this is my home park, and it is a really nice park. It’s a shockingly great park, the operations are usually not bad, at all. The operators are all kind, and on a non-busy day, they will let you ride multiple times in a row. One time I got stuck right in front of the station on Tantrum, due to lighting, they were all kind, and nice, we were having conversations when stuck. Viper, my favorite ride in the park, is really nice when not in the central-ish seats, the front seats of the section(?) are not rough and don’t toss you around, unlike the previously mentioned seats. Ride of Steel does have a lot more force in the front and back seats, and overall nice. Just as what Airtime Thrills said, this is a surprisingly nice park, with a great supporting cast and nice headliners. They usually run multiple trains on regular days for Viper. The flat rides are all pleasant, including the SkyScreamer. They recently closed Mind Eraser for the season to get new trains, and it’s gonna be a lot better than the previous seasons. I feel like Six Flags isn’t gonna do a lot for now, and although I hope they do add a new coaster, which they really need, they won’t for the next year or two. I feel like this video isn’t doing justice for Darien Lake at all. But hopefully, you guys sometimes revisit and do it some more justice.

I grew up/live outside of Buffalo, but haven't been to Darien Lake in probably 22 years. From your and other videos I've watched the park seemed a lot better back then. Not a whole lot has been added since, while multiple attractions have been taken away. That and from what I hear the prices of everything (especially food) have skyrocketed. The current owner doesn't seem to want to invest into the park and is trying to squeeze as much as he can out of visitors. It probably peaked around 2000 when it had the DC and WB tie-ins with the theming.

@SaraAB873 ай бұрын
.The prices pretty much ensure that I am never going back to this park. I am not buying seasons passes. $30 parking is totally outrageous for this area. Its not even that much to park at Disney or Canada's Wonderland. Its not even that much to park on Clifton hill in Ontario one of the biggest tourist destinations in the region, its like $10-15 in CAD. The level of income that everyone makes in this area is not equivalent to the prices that this park charges. I agree that it peaked in the early 2000's. They did take a lot of things out including the ferris wheel and didn't replace it with a new one. They removed several other rides and did not replace them. If they replaced the wheel with another that would be ok, and if they replaced rides that were removed that would be ok. But I've like, never seen a park without a ferris wheel and the fact that this park is missing one is a big problem

I’ve been local to the park my whole life. Late 90’s and early 00’s it peaked and died hard after. The park doesn’t do anything well. SFDL is nominally my home park but since 2019 my girlfriend and I have made the conscious decision to adopt Canada's Wonderland as our home park. Making the trek to Toronto 2-3x a month is worth it to visit a top-tier park that [usually] has good operations and coasters that are properly maintained and don't ride like they're dragging something behind them; nor do they treat 'one train ops' like some kind of holy grail that other parks can only desire to achieve. It also actually sees investment and year-over-year increases in the total number of attractions and actually seems to have a future. All that said, I must concede that Canada's Wonderland does not, in fact, feature a Moose on the Loose. Considering how heavy they've been leaning into "Canadian" theming over the past several years, you'd think that would be something they'd want. It could also use a few decent mid-tier coasters, but one thing at a time.

Motocoaster over Ride of Steel is absolutely criminal. I get the ops on Ride of Steel are ASS but I hesitate to call it forceless. The final run of the 3 hills at the end gave me borderline ejector and just today I browned out for the first time ever on the double helix (normally that section of the ride does absolutely nothing for me although I think its the largest helix I've experienced). It is the weakest hyper I've been on but its still in my top 15 because it feels like a nice long ride with satisfying elements and incredibly smooth tracking. I adored viper when I rode for the first time in 2023 but it beat me up pretty bad today, more than just on the batwing although that was the worst part. I share your opinions on tantrum and and predator although I might be tripping but I think I experienced a twinge of airtime on the drop on predator today.
@sabretooth19975 ай бұрын
I see Motocoaster as just the world's most boring and forceless Wild Mouse. I also agree that the last few hills on RoS are the best; it loses too much speed over the big camelback and is in fact prone to valleying before it in light loads. I learned once there that they won't dispatch a train with under 1/2 load because of that. I also hold the evidently unpopular opinion that RoS at Six Flags America is better. That one runs out through a wooded area and that alone gives you a much better illusion of speed than SFDL's unkempt lawn areas do.

@@CaptainAtria Honestly, though, I wouldn't recommend SFA unless you're in the area for some other reason. We only went because we happened to be visiting family in Baltimore. We didn't have all day to spend, but it was enough. It was good enough to go and pick up the good credits. Ride of Steel is again the standout (IMO, and with 2 trains!!!), Wild One is a good classic woody but rough, and Firebird must be the roughest B&M that has ever operated. The Batwing (Vekoma Flying Dutchman) is good if you like the idea of trying to keep your butt tight to a toilet mounted on a wall with the tank end high - I can't think of a better way to describe it. Didn't hurt and would have been a neat experience - but it was just simply uncomfortable in an awkward sense. Also a very strange and distended linear park layout. I once timed dispatches while waiting in line (in 2021 if I recall; haven't ridden it since) and came up with a max hourly throughput of 292 guests per hour. (My numbers were 8 cycles in 52.2 minutes - I still have the note on my phone lol.) That also assumes a fully loaded train every time, which as we all know most certainly wasn't the actual case. So the real number was probably somewhere closer to 275-280. Consider that most flat rides and kiddie rides put that performance to shame. Part of the problem should be attributed to nobody enforcing the test seat, with another large part of the problem being Intamin's notorious inability to make a decent restraint (and the fact that Ride of Steel is a bit of a Frankencoaster as it was Intamin's first real attempt at a hyper, iirc). At least one of those dispatches took about 12 minutes and the restraints all had to be reset at least 3 times.

Im sorry but this video makes no sense. You said you didnt like Superman/ride of steel, but for some reason you wanted to use you fast pass on that ride! You were also being a greedy person by not being honest when the ride operators forgot to check your fast pass. And just a little tip for the future you CANNOT use different fast pass for a new park. And Six Flags Darien Lake is not home pf the worst operations.

You seem like you get triggered extremely easily. I suggest hiding from what others say if it hurts you so much.

I happen to really like Darien Lake. Why can’t they just enjoy the beautiful day, the great rides and stop whining?

You didn’t watch the video because we said we like the park

We can all agree that Darian Lake is way better this season than the fake and failing Buffalo Bills.

You guys are so pessimistic I swear there's no enjoyment out of watching you guys review these parks. Why not go in a little more optimistic so that way you don't completely turn off your audience to every park you're at because according to you guys everything is awful and it makes your body hurt. I personally been to this park more times than I can count and been going there since the late '90s and most of what you guys are saying is not accurate.

Good thing you won’t watch anymore. Pretty sure the countless people that agree with us are more accurate than the one troll who doesn’t

Darian Lake sucks. They should just close it. It's so ghetto. Nothing new has been built in like 20 yrs. It's boring there. Rather drive to PA and goto Hershey Park. Or drive to six flags New England or Jersey. Those are worth the drive.

I’m sure a lot of locals would be upset if it closed.

@@BeachcliffStudios It has too much going for it to be closed, because there is a campground and concert hall on the property which is what most people go for. Its a full resort. Even if they did close up the them park and remove rides, I can't see them ever closing the campground and concert hall. Its one of the only venues in the region that attracts world class performers. It wouldn't be a good idea to close it up because that would be a lot of lost revenue for the surrounding communities. As much as I don't like this place (and I don't go there anymore) its never a good idea to close a major attraction. If I don't like it, then I don't have to go there, but I am fine with letting others enjoy it if that is what they want to do. Its not the best use of people's money, but they have to decide for themselves where their money goes. Other local businesses would suffer if it closed. When Fantasy island closed the businesses on Grand Island suffered greatly and some were even talking about closing up or moving locations so its not good for the community when something like this closes, not only does it cause loss of revenue from the closed attraction but it causes local businesses to close up and creates a downward spiral which is never a good thing. Maybe just lower the prices so the cost is more appropriate for the area's income level and what is at the park given that they removed a bunch of things and never replaced them but they continue to charge more each year both for admission and parking. If they did that I would have more respect for the park.
