80s/90s LL fan here. LL was questionable during this time and most certainly did not have the same fan base. This was one in a series of questionable behaviors that don’t even live in my mind anymore lol. He always rapped like that but its elementary nature stands out even more in today’s hip hop world. Yet, it’s also what made him palatable to White folks. I knew about the song and even the lyrics because it was sh*tted on so much. But I never never actually heard it for myself until listening to this Derapy podcast 😊 When you ask yourself how can Black people vote for the 🟠🤡🍕💩 running for office, just remember this song 🤗

I think LL Cool J saw how critically acclaimed and how much Nelly got applauded for that Garth Brooks song and he wanted to dip his toes in that genre for noterity. LL Cool J is extremely influential and had hits for three decades, his sound and his versatility is also one of the best, he evolved with the genre and was apart of its early evolution. Him and Rakim are actually in my top 10 they are both tied at 8 for me. I think this song was just something he was experimenting with but he didn't put much effort behind it and it showed.
