I fail this song with only downstrokes too, but I can play it pretty well fingerstyle. It's just easier to maintain a steady rhythm like that, which is the most important thing for bass here.

the drummer is not that bad, for me the bassist is fcking it big time, his tempo is ridiculous is like he's not listening to the drummer he's just doing his thing. actually everyone's tempo and timing is awful, besides the drummer, he even slows down when he realizes his band mates as completely lost, trying to catch them up.
