Hey. Just wanted to say you've saved my 2021. I just got back into reading this year again, I used to read in middle school and high school but I didn't get time in college to read but I recently started since I have time now besides attending online college and OMG. I was reminded of how much I enjoy the world of books. I've read like 20+ books in the past 2 months and all of them are your recommendations. So thank you ❤️ I love your recommendations and your tastes are pretty amazing and similar to mine and you're one of my favorites in KZbin and I've been watching your videos nonstop. They're very entertaining.. 😂😘

@Sarana.
@Sarana. 3 жыл бұрын
1984 was one of the worst books I’ve ever read, the character is extremely misogynistic and the only female character is entirely unbelievable. Instead of 1984 I would recommend Handmaid’s Tale! I read them back to back and Handmaid’s Tale takes the good ideas from 1984 and does them so much more justice and doesn’t come out as misogynistic, even if the society within the book is that.
@anastasiab201
@anastasiab201 3 жыл бұрын
@@Sarana. I definitely agree tat it was incredibly misogynistic and very evidently written by a man. My main reason why I liked it is the realistic ending and a good depiction the reality of what living in the USSR was like...connecting the book to my family's stories of growing up there. Plus its a book great to analyze which is why it got me out od my reading slump .The handmaid's tale is on my TBR!!!

4:36 if you want to read really great dystopia - you need to read "We" by Yevgeny Zamyatin. It's the first and best book in this genre, because most of the "descendants" looks like copy of it (especially 1984, which is almost a complete copy, if we talk about the backbone of the work)

holy shit! you blew up. so happy for you haha. i remember a reddit post about favorite booktubers that i responded to 3 months ago: " Cindy is my go-to for crack. The hard canna-biss. Leonie is my go-to for calmness (with a touch of mary juanna)" in my year of following - you've never disappointed. much love :)

I read Men Explain Things To Me this year too for Women's month and it was ok but there are other books that delve deeper into the same topics Rebecca Solnit discussed in her essay collection. I recommend Cinderella Liberator by Rebecca Solnit, it's a feminist retelling of Cinderella and I think it's her best work. :)
