To be fair, how bad you feel a book is depends on your expectations. If you expect a 10/10 masterpiece, then it is truly a 3/10 pile of shit. If you expect the worst thing ever, then it is meh at worst.

Adhd and dyslexia tend to go hand in hand and we all suspect Jake is dyslexic (even if we joke he's just stupid). So it wouldn't surprise me if adhd would cause Jake to forget his about his oxygen supply. That being said, never send Jake to some sort of space or water faring voyage. I'm pretty sure he'd actually suffocate.
