Anyone would think City have committed a horrendous crime here. The only reason why this is now an issue is because the footballing elite introduced FFP so stop teams like city from being competitive. If anything United getting themselves into billions of debt is more of a problem in sport.

The Glazers did nothing that wasn't allowed at that time. This isn't all down to FFP. City are still trying to spend fortunes now. They got that money on the back of sustained rule breaking which Uefa banned and fined them for. They have refused to show their accounts and be transparent for many years. That in itself tells you all you need to know. Manchester United have apparently £100 to £120 transfer budget without selling players. City probably have more in billions. Of those 2 clubs, which do you think takes more from ticket and merchandise sales? What the shareholders take out per year wouldn't buy a decent player.

No the argument has always been that FFP rules were put in place by the traditional “hierarchy” to keep clubs like City out.

@@robertatkinson5335 which is a very superficial understanding of FFP. It was brought in to maintain the sustainability of a club, the league it's playing in and overall footballing structure. A rich owner pumping in his own money endangers the club itself, in case that owner suddenly decides to leave the club, or, is forced to do so under any circumstances. Also, to compete with such a club, other clubs have to go beyond their means as well, risking the stability of the club. FFP was brought in considering all such circumstances.

If the epl feel City are guilty and are confident about the alleged charges, then they should rush the case to court and expose City for all to see... It isn't upto City to prove their innocence as they did not accuse themselves of breaking any rules. An accused murderer won't come and hand his murder weapon to investigators, no. Actually it’s 5 charges the “115” nonsense which suits everyone’s narrative comes from sub sections in Premier League rules multiplying over the supposed years in question. It is not even clear if the panel to be selected by an Arsenal fan has been selected yet. Charges 1 and 2 are pretty thin and if they collapse charges 3 and 4 will follow. The remaining charge 5 “ failure to co-operate “ carries a potential financial fine. City are sick of this nonsense so it’s no surprise they have given up co-operating with a flawed investigation. A lot of people are going to be very disappointed when nothing happens to City but then the accusations will be City paid them off. The reality is it’s a well run club that has got lucky with its owners.I would wish the same for all our clubs at every level. But this constant conspiracy/ skullduggery stuff is embarrassing from jealous clubs themselves and their fanbases.

With financial fair play there is no chance for success unless you're already one of the cartel Brighton and Brentford are two fantastically run clubs but they'll never win the league. The premier league also wanted the matter kept quiet. The chair of the premier league tribunal is in fact an Arsenal member not just a supporter. That is not a minor matter. Justice must be seen to be done. At some stage, a line has to be drawn in investigations and that line was drawn at the highest court for sport, CAS, without continuous appeals to other tribunals who have no expertise in football matters such as the Swiss court suggested by Simon. Just because City have chosen not to take part does not mean by any stretch that those who are speaking against them speak the unvarnished truth.

That's not how the law works. Why would you adopt the burden of proof when legally you're innocent until proven guilty.
